Oct. POAS Pumpkin Babes!

  1. tiramisu

    @marley: @LCTBQE: it's still early! I think it could definitely turn positive for both of you in the next day or two.

    @Nutella: I didn't understand the trying for a baby part until I was ttc too. It is pretty stressful! My friends don't talk about it either. They've asked me when I'm having another baby and I said hopefully soon. But I'm sure no one wants to know the details or hear about my BD life (or lack thereof), especially since they know DH too.

    persimmon / 1045 posts

    @tiramisu: oh totally, I don't think everyone needs to know all the details but I find it weird how the default with our social circles is to not talk about it at all. But possibly just because I'm not super close to them as I thought as a result, only a handful know about our recent MC. Which I suppose is a good thing, but in some ways would have been nice to have more ears!

  3. LCTBQE

    nectarine / 2461 posts

    @Nutella: yes to every single thing you said! Same thing over here, no one talks about anything. I'm 90% sure my sister-in-law and brother are fairly pregnant and not telling me right now, probably out of sensitivity because I told them about my MC, but it's weird to get that kind of vague evasion from my own brother. So maybe I can introduce them to some of your friends.

    I'm 10DPO this morning, (yes, it's super early) but totally blank blank negative just now, my temps are falling, and Amazon Prime isn't delivering more FRERs until tomorrow night, but my luteal phase isn't the greatest so likely my period will get here Friday or so.

    @Marley: I'm only going to test again if my temp spikes back up and I have no signs of spotting, otherwise I'm just going to sit grimacing and wait for my period like how people on the gulf coast wait for hurricanes. Keep thinking about how I got my BFP in late July on 11DPO with a pale but totally clear, obvious line that showed up in 30 seconds.
    Your plan for Thursday sounds sane and logical and good and stuff. Also, you're right, I can't tell at all the difference between PMS and pregnancy symptoms, my symptoms are bullshit and don't you think that we should have evolved past them being indiscernible by now?

    @tiramisu: thanks for the cheerleading

    @LCTBQE: this the my first time TTC and seeing tests. With my DD I used a digital and I was already 9 weeks. whoops. Even my ob was like what is wrong with you.

    Totally sucks about Prime. Not trying to condone insane behavior but what about running into good ol' Duane Reade?

    pomegranate / 3845 posts

    @LCTBQE: @marley: @Nutella: FRER was definitely negative this morning, not even a shadow of a second line. Still no AF, but this being my first post-IUD cycle, I'm not really sure what to expect. My cycles were super regular with the IUD, but who knows! I wasn't charting or anything either, so it would've been pretty crazy to get a BFP first try.

    To everyone still testing, lots of

    kiwi / 706 posts

    @Applesandbananas: still rooting for you. This is my first real cycle off the pill and I feel the same way.

    @marley: thanks no sign of AF, so I guess I'm not totally out

    So I'm caving and buying a test today. Pretty much the only reason that I haven't tested yet is that I didn't have any in the house. I'll let you know how it goes. I think that I'm either 10, or at the worst, 8 DPO, so it may still be too early to test. But I am getting impatient!!

  10. marley

    kiwi / 706 posts

    @LovelyPlum: no judgments here!

  11. tiramisu

    apricot / 409 posts

    @Ajsmommy: good luck! I think you still have a good chance since your DH will be home on the weekend and on Friday!

    @Nutella: Im so sorry about your MC. It is weird that people don't talk about ttc, and I definitely wish I could discuss it in real life. I've been frustrated and discouraged and wanted to talk about it, but I just felt like I couldnt for some reason.

    @LCTBQE: hugs. Hope the PMS is better today. Still rooting for you! Oh and I totally checked out that puppies and babies thread and it was completely adorable.

    @marley: good luck tomorrow! I keep checking if that thermometer is back on the US amazon site but it's still not. It has great reviews, so I'm not sure why they took it off. In the meantime, I ordered another brand to try.

    @marley: wow, being as chilled out as you must have been with your first pregnancy is amazingly alien to me, and I say that in a most admiring way. I'm drunk after 1.5 glasses of wine.

    Good suggestion about Duane Reed, but 1) it's probably better for mental health to wait for my period at this point, and 2) I prefer the human-less checkout stations at Rite Aid for that kind of revealing purchase. It's really a finer point of being in NYC and come to think of it, it seems like Mr and Mrs Bee live in Park Slope and I wish they would start a section that's just called "Frantic New Yorkers".

    @Applesandbananas: oy. but you're not out until you're out

  14. marley

    kiwi / 706 posts

    @LCTBQE: haha not chilled out. We just weren't trying. I got off the pill after 15 years and it would take a long time. A few happy hours later and before a string of Christmas parties, I decided to test because AF was MIA.

    Same here with not buying stuff like that in a store. I must be the most self conscious person ever.

  15. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

    @marley: @tiramisu: tonight, though I'm not 100 % sure what I was expecting. DH is relieved. I'm strangely bummed.

    @Nutella:I'm so sorry for your loss It is a cruel irony that most people are the most secretive about pregnancies until 12 weeks, when in fact, it's in that most vulnerable time that we need the most support. We had two losses before DD, and it was awful. I get the not wanting to tell people, for fear of later needing to untell them (which totally sucks). But at the same time, we ended up being pretty open when I finally got pregnant with my daughter. We decided that a baby deserved to be celebrated, no matter how long I was pregnant. She gave us a few scares during the earliest weeks I was pregnant, but I'm glad we didnt completely hide it. That would have been so stresful.

  16. marley

    kiwi / 706 posts

    @LovelyPlum: why is he relieved? on your next test.

    I am a person who would not be able to hide something like a pregnancy. I pretty told people right away, like the next day after the BFP. But that was years ago, before I knew the etiquette and the difficulties of TTC and maintaining a pregnancy. Totally naive. I'm not sure what I would do this time. Definitely friends and family. Not sure about coworkers. I'm pretty new at this particular job and I don't think being pregnant is encouraged in my field in general. Sigh.

  17. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

    @marley: because we weren't TTC this month. In fact, we were actively avoiding, bUT we found out after logging a few more days' data into my Ovia app that it looked as though we DTD on my most fertile day. But I'm not sure exactly when I ovulated, so there's that.

    We were originally going to TTC this month, but then the opportunity came up for me to be in London in June for work. So, now wouldn't be great timing, but things could be switched around to go later next fall. I think it's mostly the uncertainty and unexpected possibility that I could be pregnant that threw him for a loop...well, that and the daycare costs. If I'm not pregnant this month, we will probably try again in January, so I could safely go to Europe in June.

    Sigh. Who knows. I promised myself that I wouldn't get super worked up over TTC this time around, but it is so hard.

    And yeah, I suck at secrets. Well, I was too sick for them the last time, and way too anxious about anot her possible loss. Anyone who knew me well could sniff me out in a heartbeat. But we chose not to say anything on FB until 25 weeks, because I just didn't want to deal with people.

    AF is here!!!!! Boo and yay at the same time. Means I'm officially out for Oct, but hopefully that means I'll actually ovulate in nov

    @LovelyPlum: it's so hard to balance these work and baby. Going to London sounds great! But I would be super happy for you if you got a though!

    @wheres_c: in November!

    I fell asleep on the couch before 9:00 the last two nights, so I woke up at 4:30 this morning and decided to POAS at 9 dpo. Totally sane, right? Well, it's definitely a ! No doubt about it. I had a CP last cycle, hopefully this one sticks!

    No AF, this morning so I wait. And symptom spot. Ha, everything is a symptom.

    Exhaustion. Seriously barely dragged my butt out of bed.

    Shakiness. Google says it's an early pregnancy symptom.

    Nausea when brushing teeth. Totally felt the same barfy way with LO1.

    Crazy vivid nightmares.

    Sore, tender bbs.

    TTC makes me cray.

    @Applesandbananas: what dpo are you? Can't remember if you've told us.

    I'm 12 dpo today and too scared to test.

    persimmon / 1045 posts

    @futuremama: hooray! Congrats! 🎉

    @Applesandbananas: sorry for the lame will you be testing again? I hear you on the symptom spotting too..

    @marley: I know exactly how you feel! But if you don't test it sort of sits at the back of your mind until you do?! Blah!

  26. marley

    kiwi / 706 posts

    @Nutella: I'm thinking that I should just go about my business like I have zero chances and maybe getting a pleasant surprise in a few days when AF doesn't show? I just don't "feel" pregnant, whatever that means anyway. I have "symptoms" but they really could be anything. Gas is not a baby lol.

    With that said, I'm bringing a test to work in case I change my mind.

  27. Applesandbananas

    pomegranate / 3845 posts

    @marley: @Nutella: I have a giant pack of wondfos so I just POAllllthesticks so tomorrow, unless AF arrives. I thought I'd O'd around CD 14, which would make me 16DPO but with no AF in sight, clearly I was wrong lol

  28. marley

    kiwi / 706 posts

    @Applesandbananas: got a I'm probably out this month. It's 12 dpo! I know there's always still a chance until AF shows, but I'm realistic. Oh well.

    pomegranate / 3845 posts

    @marley: s suck! When will you retest?

  30. marley

    kiwi / 706 posts

    @Applesandbananas: not sure. Maybe not until AF is late. I'm writing this off for now.

  31. LCTBQE

    nectarine / 2461 posts

    @marley: noooooooo. I'm sorry It's so wild that we can write it off before we even expect our periods, but I hear you, I think it might feel better to just wait for it to show up than to look at another blank test. I'm 12DPO tomorrow and am not optimistic.

    @nutella: "sort of sits at the back of my mind" !!!

    @Applesandbananas: I am so confused by the symptoms that I'm just trying to ignore them and it is NOT working. I feel you, lady.

    @futuremama: that's great!!! easy as pie congratulations!

    kiwi / 706 posts

    @LCTBQE: when is AF due for you? Mine's ETA is Sunday. My temp dropped a bit today, and so did yesterday. Does this mean she's coming? I thought temps stay up until a day before and then there's a drastic decline.

  34. Applesandbananas

    pomegranate / 3845 posts

    here too. 🍷🍷for us

  35. LCTBQE

    nectarine / 2461 posts

    @marley: Probably tomorrow or Sunday? I don't know when to expect it because I don't have that great of a grasp on what my luteal phase is. I thought it was on the short side, like 10-11 days, from charting a similarly unsuccessful cycle in June, but I guess it's good that that's not a problem for me. My understanding about temps is that they can typically either stay up (like way up above the coverline) and then crash in one day, or decline steadily for a few days, and then around the time they drop below your coverline, that's when your period will come.

    @applesandbananas: yeah.

    @Applesandbananas: @LCTBQE: 🍷🍷🍷 cheers?

  37. Nutella

    persimmon / 1045 posts

    @LCTBQE: aww sucks - I hate seeing those!

    @marley: I find my temps do whatever they want in the days before AF, but will definitely plummet the day it starts. Don't know if that helps...

    I had wine last night then fell asleep halfway through our movie - Friday nights always seem to do that to me. 🍷🍷🍷

  38. marley

    kiwi / 706 posts

    @Nutella: I think so. The problem is all our bodies are different, right? My temps have been dropping for the past 2 days, but still way up compared to my cover line. But none of this means anything unless I see a bfp,, I think.

  39. Nutella

    persimmon / 1045 posts

    @marley: yes exactly - I did searches on the FF gallery until I went cross eyed so many times when I was temping and in the last few days before waiting for AF. It was a killer but temping brings out my crazy - I can't seem to just record data, I need to analyse the crap out of it...which is not useful because everyone is different! And so are each of our cycles!! Once I remember my cycles were like clockwork and then ONE TIME it was like two days longer, and it still ended in a bfn! Blah. My fingers and toes are super crossed for you guys though
