@MrsChampagne that second FRER line is pitch black!

@tiramisu yeah, I read in TCOYF that many women just don't meet the hormone threshold to make them read positive even though they are in fact ovulating--maybe you're one of them, too? Did you get any lines at all on the wondfos this past month, or were they just blank? Mine were totally blank, then last Saturday, suddenly all day they showed color (this is also what happened to @Dr. Pepper), but only probably about 80% of what I'd call a true positive. Then I ovulated Sunday, and by Sunday morning they'd gone back to very light (I suppose because the LH surge to incite the O was over by then). On Monday my temp jumped up, so I knew I'd already ovulated. Anyway, I wonder if temping won't affect your husband feeling pressured that much, because all it really does is confirm to you what *already* happened. Unless he's a super light sleeper, you could temp before he even wakes up? the one I use is the $7.50 MABIS one from Amazon, the beep is pretty quiet. I give it a B+.

@tiramisu @nutella @LovelyPlum mostly all I hear about breastfeeding is that it's painful, difficult, and time-consuming, but this sounds really great. well, minus the starvation-negating-everything part. @nutella thanks for the translation that's a LOT of weight. I know, I know, if I eat cookies (my version of chocolate) then the gym is pointless that day--it's really an either/or, isn't it? Fingers crossed we all get knocked up and the weight issue starts all over again

I'm so confused My OPK were blank from cd 10 - 26 when they finally started to darken with an almost positive on CD 28 and a probable O last Friday CD 29. I usually O between CD 18 -23 but I had a UTI and took Cipro for a few days so I wasn't surprised that O was a week late. I woke up to bleeding this morning on CD 38/8 DPO. Did I ovulate 2 weeks ago and OPKs didn't pick up anything? (I was testing twice a day by that point) or did I just have an 8 day luteal phase?

I'm just so frustrated. My cycles were mostly predictable and I have never had less than a 13 day luteal phase. I can't chart because I work graveyard shift and could never get accurate readings so I can't really confirm O with a temp shift.

I know 7 months isn't a long time to be TTC, it's just hard not to be sad as more time passes

    @Applesandbananas:
@MrsChickpea: oy, that's so disappointing, I'm sorry. I wonder if the infection just screwed things up this one time... I've heard that if your cycle goes too long, the lining just kind of gets too heavy and can't sustain itself, so maybe that's why your LP was short this time? Your typical 13-day LP is really great--hope it's back to normal after this. xx

@LCTBQE: thanks for the response! weird, i haven't been getting my email reply notifications from HB. I think maybe you have to put the colon after the persons user name? Not sure...i don't really know too much about the tech stuff on HB.
That's interesting that your wondfo went from blank to almost positive and then less color after O. Good thing you were temping so you could confirm. When I started using my wondfos this month, they had some color for a couple days and then way lighter the next day. So maybe I just don't have enough hormone to register a true positive like you mentioned. The some color days on the wondfo did match up with my "peak" days on my cbefm. I hadn't really been trusting my cbefm, but maybe it is working after all hehe. Thanks for the tip on the thermometer. I ordered it and hopefully I can discreetly temp. DH and I wake up around the same time but maybe I can get up a little earlier and take it. It's a little hard cause he thinks if we get pregnant it should just happen naturally without keeping track, etc. That would be easier if there was a lot of BDing going on, but with life and a toddler that just isn't happening (sorry for the tmi). Phew sorry for the novel.

@mrschickpea: oh no, sorry you're having cycle confusion too. maybe the LP was just short because of the antibiotics? Mine was really short too this month...i started spotting at I think 6dpo. I was meaning to try B6 after O but I was so confused whether I Oed or not that I totally forgot to take it. If you normally have a 13 day LP, I'd say it's probably just thrown off this month due to the UTI. Hugs, hang in there. I know it gets so discouraging as the months past. Fingers crossed next month is our lucky month!

Fertility friend just changed my o day to CD 20 for whatever reason. Probably my inconsistent temping. CB Advanced and all signs point to CD 16 as my o date so I just overrode FF. I'm kind of annoyed and worried that I got it all wrong.

  9. tiramisu

    apricot / 409 posts

@marley: I'd trust the CB Advanced and symptoms on CD 16. Maybe FF puts too much emphasis on temps for figuring out O? It is confusing and frustrating when everything doesnt match up to show a clear O date. My wondfos and Cbefm not matching up was making me crazy haha.

@tiramisu: just wanted to add that yep, you have to have the colon after the user name to get a notification. Or, you can just use the reply button. But if people aren't getting notifications, check your settings!

@marley: i would be giving a bit more weight to your signs and the monitor over FF given the wacky temps. Don't stress - it's only early days!

Hey everyone! Sorry I've been MIA the last few days. There was a death in my family and I took a few days off of work and went to my hometown to spend some time with my family.
I'm going to try to get this all caught up. Please let me know who I've missed!
    Thanks!

    @WinterBee: sorry for your loss.

I've been having some serious cramping all day. Maybe implantation? I hate how it could literally be anything. My temps dropped yesterday and today a bit.

  17. LCTBQE

    nectarine / 2461 posts

@tiramisu: is it working now? Sorry, I'm new to HB and am a bit of a luddite when it comes to these things I paid XL attention to my thermometer after I told you about mine, and it is quiet as a mouse. So many people have the "it should just happen naturally" philosophy! I wish there was a pamphlet to give them explaining that it's not that simple. Like the Handbook for the Recently Deceased from Beetlejuice, but for fertility. I don't know how anybody who works and has a toddler has time to shower, let alone procreate.

@marley: sounds like FF is wack. But you're almost ready to POAS anyway at this point? The cramping sounds a little nerve-wracking. That combined with the temp drop happened to me the month I got my BFP and the other months I was keeping track in almost identical measure

@marley: that's such a great sign about your temp, if it wasn't altered too much by zombie state! Mine also went up, to a third level this time (enter triphasic fantasy interpretation), but our heat pipes came on last night and I don't trust it. Good luck tomorrow (or whenever you get around to it )

@LCTBQE: I might be reading too much into the "dip." It's probably just normal fluctuations? Is .2 even a dip? Anyway to you too! When are you testing? I thought you were just one day behind me.

  26. LCTBQE

    nectarine / 2461 posts

@marley: yeah, .2 sounds like normal fluctuation, but that's also good I am just one day behind you--am going to wait until Wednesday. Trying not to get my hopes up too much.

@LovelyPlum: thanks! I wasn't real sure how it worked.

@LCTBQE: yup, I think it's working now. I got the email notification. No worries, I'm fairly new to HB too so don't really know what I'm doing either. Good to hear the thermometer is quiet. I'm excited to try it. Good luck later this week!

@marley: Fingers crossed for you! Hope its implantation cramping. Sorry to hear your DD is sick. Taking care of a sick toddler and going to work is rough!

I feel like I need a TTC kick in the butt. I wanted to start OPKs last month, I did two... and so far this month I haven't started yet. With everything else that's been going on I've just been feeling so 'meh' about it, but I know if I don't start trying harder I'll just be disappointed in the next few weeks.
I just want to be one of those people that's don't have to try and have a sweet, short TTC journey.
Ok... rant over! Thanks for listening.

@WinterBee: Hugs. It sounds like it's been a rough week, especially with the family stuff going on. I hope you get your bfp soon. Alot of people do get pregnant without using opks so there's definitely a good chance. I got pregs with my DD without using it, but now that I am using OPKs and checking CM, only bfns so far. Hang in there.

@Applesandbananas: Hmm I don't see anything on the FRER, but maybe on the wondfo? I'm not great at seeing squinters tho and its probably darker in person than a photo. Maybe test again tomorrow morning?

@WinterBee: hang in there. I don't have much to say other than that this is super stressful and "outsiders" have no idea what we're going through! and we can't talk about it! not even with friends. I think that's what makes it harder too.

@Applesandbananas: I'm no good at reading wondfos but I think I see a shadow of something in the FRER! Post a pic again tomorrow!

@Ajsmommy: good luck next week! I decided to wait until tomorrow to test. I got my peak on the Clearblue late in the evening so I'm thinking I'm in between 9dpo and 10dpo right now. I did stock up on FRERs though. I have like 9 of them waiting for me!

@LCTBQE: looking forward to good news from you tomorrow!

@marley: don't worry, early days yet! @Applesandbananas: I actually think I can see a super squinty line on the frer where the second line should be! It wouldn't pass my DH's eye test, but i think def re-test and show us!

  38. LCTBQE

    nectarine / 2461 posts

@Applesandbananas: you're all going to think I'm crazy, but I'm a designer and I pulled this into photoshop to dramatize to contrast, and I just couldn't find the line but maybe it's coming

@marley: ugh, sorry, but I'm still holding out hope for us. I also caved and took a test this morning with the most concentrated urine on earth: negatory. I even pulled it out of the trash can tonight, still negative because I don't have witchy powers. Then I looked at a bunch of charts in the FF gallery of "negative hpt before positive", and most of them went from - to + around dpo 12-13, so... eh. Anyway, good thing you have your Y2K stockpile of FRERs

I don't think this isn't it for me though, dudes, because I am having hands-down the worst PMS of my life. I've cried 3 times tonight since I got home from work: thinking about the BFN, in the shower for no reason, and just now, after looking at @simplyfelicity's *adorable* thread of pictures of dogs and babies. As soon as I got to the first labrador I lost my mind.

@WinterBee: hang in there I know what you mean. Before we started trying, it didn't even *occur* to me that I would be anything but one of the women you described who has an easy/happy/natural time of it. But I'm so glad you're going to try the OPK's, maybe it will give you a window into what's going on.

@Ajsmommy: maybe the silver lining of everything being off for you last month will be a delayed ovulation *this* month and then your husband will be home for your fertile window

  39. Nutella

@LCTBQE: aww man! Negative test suck b@lls!!! Seriously, I never realised how crap they were until I started getting them

What dpo are you? I don't want to be the heralder of false hope, especially if you can feel AF coming on. I also get teary and emotional, even more so than the rest of the month (poor DH!) so I empathise.

I know what you mean. Pre-ttc I think I felt like it just happens. And I finally understood why ppl said they are 'trying for a baby' - not that any of my actual real life friends would ever say that! We live in a super modern closed off culture where no one talks about that stuff! Like literally, will see friends & they will not mention anything about vague plans but then next time I see them they'll totally be pregnant and in the second trimester. So weird! Probably not that close friends now that I think about it? I'm totally rambling but just wanted to shout out to say o feel ya girl!

  40. marley

    kiwi / 706 posts

@LCTBQE: I totally dumpster dove twice to check for a miracle second line.

As for your PMS symptoms, aren't they also pregnancy symptoms? When are you testing next? I don't think I'm going near one until Thursday morning.

@Nutella: this. I remember talking to a friend and we were talking about being one and done (I was at the time) and it turned out she has been trying the whole time. I mean, it's fine if you don't want to talk about TTC. But straight up lying is pretty weird.
