@Nutella: yep I wish I could un-know it now. Hopefully next month I can take a more relaxed approach too.
@Marley: lol! Hehe, last time I had quite a bit of wine the day before I decided to test. I thought hmm my period is kind of late...maybe I should test before drinking anymore alcohol.
@Ajsmommy: no advice, but I'm in the same what is going on with my cycle boat.

@tiramisu: same here! I decided to test because I was throwing a party the next day!
How's everyone doing? I'm 4 dpo and still very crampy. I hate that it's so early I can't even symptom spot.

@marley: I'm cheering for you!
I think I'm probably out. My spotting just got heavier, so I think AF is definitely on her way. This is so weird, instead of a TWW I had a 1 WW. I hope it's just a wonky cycle since I finally fully weaned my daughter a couple weeks ago. Otherwise thats an awfully short luteal phase. Hopefully next month I'll be more relaxed and DH will have a better attitude about BDing.

@tiramisu @Ajsmommy the wonky cycle IS annoying. I think I --might-- have ovulated on Sunday (CD21, a full week late) but my temps aren't definitive, and these days the twinges I call ovulation cramps are probably conjecture/fantasy I'm CD25 tomorrow, and just ready to get my period and get on with it. @tiramisu I'm so confused by the relationship between nursing and fertility! but sounds like next month will be your month

more-- I'm so behind!
@Marley, yes, nice to see another New Yorker here! hang in there with the 2WW-- you're not so far from being able to test ALL fx for you, lady.
Does anyone have a reliable basal thermometer that they recommend? Mine is pretty new, but I don't trust it (every time I've taken my temp twice in a row in disbelief it comes back with very different numbers).
@nutella would you host a seminar on how to take a more chill approach, please? I will be there

@LCTBQE: thanks! It was beautiful today though!
I use the easy @ home thermometer. I have no idea if it's good. I returned the last easy @ home because I kept getting temps above 100. But I could've broken it by washing it under hot water. the replacement has been giving me fluctuating temps. But not sure if it's just me or the thermometer.

@tiramisu: @LCTBQE: boo to wonky cycles!!
AF finally showed today... so I had a 37 day cycle. They are just all over the place. From 22 days to 37 days. So I'll be using opk's religiously this next month to try to pinpoint o date. We also made an apt with the fertility specialists. If we need help I figure it's better to get started sooner rather than later!!
still hoping for more bfp's for you all!!

Well, I'm definitely out this month. AF is here. So strange, I've never had 4 days of spotting before. Anyway on to next month and hopefully it will be a more normal cycle.
@LCTBQE: Hope your cycle gets figured out soon! Wonky is super annoying. I may need to try temping next month too.
It seems nursing and fertility is different for everyone. Some people get pregnant easily while still nursing, while others need to quit completely. I think I'm in the latter category.
@marley: yeah, I was thinking of testing this morning if AF hadn't arrived, but alas she is here. Boo. On the bright side, I can keep enjoying wine and martinis without guilt.
@Ajsmommy: good luck next month! I'll be there too!

I know it's late in the month, but November isn't up yet...mind if I join?
We weren't supposed to TTC this month. In fact, I started using Ovia Fertility app to help track my cycles to avoid. We used NFP to avoid for 2 years before having LO, so you would think I would know what I am doing. You'd be wrong.
We DTD on Sunday, because the app said my fertile period would start Tuesday. Well, we get to Tuesday, I have a bit of pink spotting, enter it, and BAM, Ovia now tells me I was fertile starting Friday, and Sunday was the most fertile day So, yeah. We did use Pull n Pray, but seriously, who knows??? We were planning on TTC in January, so a baby would be welcome, just really, really unexpected.
So, I don't know when I ovulated, if at all, I don't know when I'll POAS, and I'm pretty much going crazy. Aaahhhhh!!!!!
Anyone else going nuts??? I hate this part!!

@Ajsmommy: @tiramisu: sorry you girls are out - do like me & enjoy some sangria with your sushi this weekend good luck for next month - will see you there!
@marley: fingers crossed for you miss!
@LovelyPlum: oh wow, sending loads of luck your way! It's hard when you don't know what's going on cycle wise - hopefully the tww isn't too crazy for you!

I've been lurking but didn't officially join.
I had a MC at the end of July after finding out at a 9 week ultrasound the baby stopped growing at 6 weeks.
I had a positive OPK on day 16 which was two weeks ago. For anyone who uses those--- does that mean I ovulated that day? Am I 14 DPO? First pic is from Wednesday and second pic is this morning. I guess at most I would be 14 DPO today?! I'm a bit worried the cheap test isn't dark. But it was $1.25 sooo.

@Mrs. Champagne: OMG!!! This is wonderful news - I would trust the frer! Congrats!!

@LovelyPlum: welcome! I'm 6dpo today and going nuts too!
@Mrs. Champagne: congrats! I don't use opks (I use clearblue advanced), but I think a positive OPK means you're about to ovulate, like in a day or two.
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@Mrs. Champagne: congrats! A positive opk means you will ovulate in a day or two not usually that day so you'd be 12 or 13dpo. That free looks great and those dollar cheepie ones show early but don't get dark. It looks fine!
pomelo / 5660 posts
@Mrs. Champagne: usually you ovulate a day or two after your positive OPk so either 12 or 13 DPO.
persimmon / 1045 posts
@LCTBQE: haha - yes of course! Though I will have to take off my hypocrite hat first! I'll start writing down my tips step 1 for me is stepping away from the charting details! Too much detail - no bueno
nectarine / 2461 posts
@MrsChampagne congratulations!!! such good news!
agreed--forget the cheapo, the FRER is blazing. I always ovulate about 24 hours after the positive (or near-positive) OPK, but sounds like you know what's going on so excited for you!!!
@marley haha, that's the same brand as @WinterBee's OPKs The backlit screen is pretty dreamy. In retrospect there's nothing wrong with my thermometer, I just didn't want to believe it and was mad about not ovulating on time. This morning I got another temp hike and it looks like I'm pretty certainly 5DPO, so I'm joining you in the TWW! although not super hopeful, we only did it twice on the day-of, not at all in the couple days before. Are you having any symptoms yet?
So, a word to the wise, I've had two cycles now where charting revealed clear ovulation, but I never got a *true* positive on wondfo's and never got a smiley face on ClearBlue digital OPKs. Woof.
@tiramisu interesting, I never knew any of this! A little off-topic, but is it true that nursing burns a million calories a day and helps you lose baby weight? hope to be in your shoes trying for #2 one day Charting might be great for you just to see what's going on. If I hadn't been doing it this month, I would have been expecting my period yesterday, but now I think it'll come (or a BFP if I am the luckiest woman on earth) next week.
@LovelyPlum how nerve-wracking! hang in there
nectarine / 2461 posts
@nutella it's true! I have such a love/hate thing going on with charting (although today it's love), but it does make me crazy, too. I think my personal step 1 for chilling out might be 2 glasses of Malbec... maybe I should re-consider that
kiwi / 706 posts
@LCTBQE: just a little cramping and bloating, maybe? Some imaginary nausea and phantom wishful implantation twinges? Lol.

@Mrs. Champagne: congratulations!! Those FRERS are beautiful. Sending you sticky and calming thoughts

@Mrs. Champagne: congrats!! I would trust the FRER. That's a really good line!

@Purpledaisy: @LovelyPlum: @LCTBQE: @Nutella: @BandDmommy: @travellingbee: @marley: thanks ladies!
Comparing the tests now it's obvious today's are darker. Hoping this is a sticky baby. Wednesday tests on top (11-12DPO?) and today (13-14DPO) on bottom.

@LovelyPlum: welcome!
@Mrs. Champagne: Congratulations!! Line looks great! I'd trust the FRERS too.
@LCTBQE: good luck! I'll be here cheering you on! Wow that's really interesting that charting showed you ovulated but the opks weren't a true positive. I had thought maybe I hadn't ovulated this month since I didn't get a positive wondfo, but since I now have AF, I probably did. I want to try temping, but I'm worried it'll put more BD pressure on DH. Or I need to find a thermometer that doesn't beep so I can discreetly temp haha.
Yep, breastfeeding burns a ton of calories and it also made me SUPER hungry. At one point when I was nursing alot, I was actually 5 lbs lighter than prepregnancy. I've since gained it back as I've slowly weaned so I'm about the same weight as before baby (but with a squishy belly ) I should probably start exercising hehe.
eggplant / 11408 posts
@Nutella: @marley: @LCTBQE: @tiramisu: Thank you!!
@LCTBQE: yep, nursing burns a zillion calories, but the baby weight didn't come off for me for a few months. You have to eat all. The. Time. when you nurse because you're starving!!

@marley: Thanks for the tip! I just searched for it on Amazon and it says currently unavailable. Boo. Hopefully they bring it back in stock. When taking your BBT do you have to use thermometers that go to the 100th place? I have a regular one that only goes to the 10th place but it makes a loud obvious beep.
kiwi / 706 posts
@tiramisu: I think you need the 100th. For BBT you need it to be more sensitive.
ETA: I linked to the product page earlier, but it was Amazon.ca (not sure why my computer thinks I'm in Canada). It seems to be sold out everywhere. weird. I wonder if it's been recalled...
apricot / 409 posts
@marley: Ooh yeah I was looking at that Canada site. I've never ordered from a site outside the US before, but it looks like I might be able to ship it internationally to the US. That's so weird that it's not available on regular amazon.com.

@LCTBQE: i found that I was stupidly hungry while BFing, especially at the beginning. So any burning of calories was probably slowed by my enormous appetite. So about 3 months pp, i started this healthy eating thing where I was on 1800 calories/day, and still lost the last 7kg (15lbs in your language - had to google it haha) in 12 weeks. Was pretty hard though! But then hit a plateau and never lost any more weight wise. BUT when he fully weaned at 13 months, I lost this extra layer of tummy squidge that body had been holding onto for old time's sake. So that was sweet. So for me, nursing def helped the weight come off, but I had to be careful still. I'm back working out again now which is definitely helping me return to old shape but I feel like its a daily battle between exercise or chocolate, haha. /novel
