How often do you give your LO foods they don't like?
I always read those statistics, where it says kids have to be exposed to new foods 15-20 times before they like it. And since I learned something similar in education training (that you have to teach a student a new concept an average of 17 times before they remember it), it resonates with me and I really remember it. So when my LO doesn't like something, I don't mentally put it on a list of "things LO doesn't like". I just keep offering it to her. Obviously, it takes a long time, so I've only done it with sweet potatoes since it took me offering them about 10 times before LO started warming up to it as a side dish (it's still not her favorite, but she'll eat when she's hungry).
But my husband (and now one of LOs daycare teachers) think I'm crazy. Their philosophy is more like, "she doesn't like it. Why try to give it to her? Just give her the foods she does like". My husband literally starts arguments with me sometimes when I pack certain things in LOs lunch that she doesn't really like. But I kind of figure--oh well--it's just another exposure to add to the list. But then I kind of feel like a "mean mom".
I should add--her weight gain is great these days. So I don't have to worry about weight gain (I realize that's a total game changer, because we went through that when LO was younger).
