Yeah this was how my mom broke the news to me today. After years of her coughing & choking & begging her to see the Dr. She finally gets seen for it. According to her its not that big of a deal. Just a little of COPD & emphysema. Apparently the Dr. Isn't concerned. For her history she is in good shape. She quit smoking 6 years ago. So she is ahead of the game there. Even though it is "just a little COPD & emphysema" its a hard pill for this gal to swallow right now. I'm for sure going with her to her next appointment!

I'm so sorry. That's a rough way to find out. My grandma had both and it was very hard to watch her go through the hard times

I'm so sorry! That is an awful way to tell you, but maybe it's a coping mechanism? If she acts like it's no big deal, then maybe it isn't a scary to her. I don't know, just a thought.

Oh no! I do know many people that live a good life with it though through medications. Glad she is getting treatment.

@T.H.O.U.: I'm not sure she is getting any treatment right now. She has a follow-up in November with that Dr. for her choking issuse. I think they are trying to figure out if they are related issues or separate. Either way I'm glad she went!
