Olive had a doctors appt today and they couldn't find anything wrong with her. She woke up with a 101 fever this morning. I just took her temp and it's 102.3.... Tylenol doesn't seem to be bringing it down.
She is fussier than normal, but still pretty happy all day. She doesn't have any other symptoms. I'm so worried about her. I just hate when babies are sick!
What's the highest fever your little one has spiked?

Mavrick had 104 rectal... I don't know what that translates to (I think you take her temp in her ear) Did you bring her in because of her fever? Did they tell you to come back if it didn't go down?

@Mrs. Sunglasses: she had her 9 month appt already scheduled. They said being her back if fever continues for 3 days. I'm just worried that the fever hasnt been going down with Tylenol. She was ok when she went to the doctor, then the fever spiked again and it's not going down.

@Mrs. Bee: Aw ya, gotcha! Well I would just monitor her temp. Remove layers of clothing and don't cover her (i'm sure you are already doing that) We had Mavi's pedi appointment the day before he went to the hospital and found he has a massive ear infection. Doc didn't see it. So when they aren't looking for something specific, maybe they look pass it?
I agree sick babies is the worst. I hope her temp goes down.

My LO's highest temp was probably close to 104. It was right before she got Roseola. She was.. 11 months old!

@Mrs. Sunglasses: I thought she might have an ear infection so the doc checked for that. I gave her Tylenol an hour ago and now her fever is 102.9! I wonder if I should give her ibuprofen...

@Mrs. Bee: ibuprofen works better for us, but seeing you just gave her Tylenol 1 hour ago.... I'm not sure it's a good idea. Maybe google it? But ya, it might help more then the Tylenol.

Have you tried giving her a cool bath to see if it helped? Maybe she's getting more teeth?

@Mrs. Sunglasses: google says it's ok but I'm still nervous. Charlie's fever would always drop with Tylenol, but olive is just getting hotter!

@Boogs: she's definitely getting teeth, but they wouldn't cause a fever this high. She has been nursing for the past hour and is in my lap now! If it goes above 103 I'll get her up and give her a bath.

I hope olive feels better soon! My BIL always tells us to switch between Tylenol and ibuprofen whenever the kids have fevers because they work differently. And we always put a cool, wet towel on their heads.

@Mrs. Bee: Then if it keeps going up, I'd do it. And strip her down completely. Only in her diaper. Maybe wipe her down with a wet facecloth. We had to do that with Mavrick at the hospital. It helped. But don't give her too cold of a bath. The difference in temp can cause shock.

Lala had a really high fever (105) when she had roseola. She was so listless in my arms :(. Feel better Olive!

Well her temp dropped a degree and she finally fell back asleep after nursing forever. But I am trapped in the glider. Usually I can put her back in her crib awake, but I think she'll wake up if I put her down. I worked hard to get her down!
I guess I will be on hellobee for a while!

@Mrs. Bee: Poor Olive! Well hopefully the fever stays down and she can get some rest. Whenever my LO has a fever rest is always the thing that helps most with bringing it down.

@Mrs. Bee: Hope you guys finally got some rest last night. I would also maybe check to see what the highest dose is that you can give her. When we took our LO to the hospital, they said that the dosages on the box are significantly lower than what they actually can take (kinda like how the advil bottle says take 2 but for sever pain, you really can take 3 or 4).
Also, the Little Remedies brand makes some fever wipes. I really like them when LO has a fever because they aren't cold but just cooling and seem to really help (non medicated).

@Mrs. Bee: oh no!!! so sorry! cb's had fevers up to 104 at times, but they've always gone down with tylenol. i hope it goes down soon for olive!
last summer he had a fever of 103.5 with no other symptoms...the next day he broke out with hand, foot, and mouth blisters! any chance that could be it? it's common around late spring and summer, i think and pretty contagious. we had another bout of it going around this past may, but thankfully none of us got it this time!

I want to say DD's highest fever was around 103.5/104 (can't remember exactly) right before she got Roseola as well. She had the high fever for two days then the rash started two days later.
@MrsBee-I've found that when the fever is above 102 ibuprophen works much better than Tylenol at bringing it down.

@Mrs. Cowgirl: oddly charlie isn't sick. he usually brings something home from daycare and olive catches it. i think we've just been going on too many adventures on the weekends at the expense of olive's naps and bedtime.

@purrpletulips: @Mrs. Sunglasses: i was scared to give her ibuprofen because our nanny's mom died due to an allergic reaction to acetaminophen, and then our nanny almost died due to an allergic reaction to ibuprofen!
but her fever was over 103 and not going down at all with tylenol, so i finally gave her ibuprofen and it went down. she only had a mild fever this morning when she woke up.
fevers are scary because you don't always know the cause! i think it was maybe just a virus that ran its course?

@Mrs. Bee: Mavrick has had fever and the next day it disappeared competely. I don't think we can ever understand what is going on. 
Glad to hear she's doing better. But dang about the allergies and deaths. No wonder you were scared to give it to her.
