Snooping is one of those controversial topics that will probably never be settled.
Some people say that snooping is justified if one person has a bad feeling about things. Others say that snooping is never justified. Others have talked it over with their SO and decided that neither will ever snoop.
What's your personal take on snooping. Have you ever snooped and wished you didn't? Or not snooped, and wish you did?
Also, do you and your SO have a snooping policy?

We do not have a snooping policy. This is a non-issue to us. We have our own privacy, but would not be opposed to sharing anything personal if asked to.

I've never snooped and neither has my husband, and we don't have a policy. If he gets a text and I am closer to his phone then he will have me read it to him. We know each others passwords too. It would be really easy to check up on him, but I trust him so much I don't feel the need.
If he ever did go through my emails, texts, or facebook in secret looking for stuff then I would be crushed.

I feel that a relationship is built on trust. If you reach the point that you can't trust what your SO tells you and you need to snoop for evidence to prove that he/she is telling the truth then you are no longer in a healthy relationship. Snooping to me is silly because people often find things and take them out of context. If you have a suspicion then come right out and ask him/her and if you cant trust their answer then maybe its time to move on.

Back when DH and I were teenagers/dating we were both guilty of snooping. Looking back its pretty obvious it was because of insecurities and the fact that we hadn't yet established the foundation of trust we have now. I feel we were in the wrong for doing it, but I also feel its wrong to keep secrets when they're relevant to your relationship.
Now we don't have a snooping policy, but we do have a 100% honesty policy. Because of this, there's been no need for snooping, we expect full disclosure. Like tana_bk, we know each others' passwords etc but with the trust we have in one another its really a non-issue.

No, we don't have a snooping policy because there's no need for one. We trust each other and we talk about everything. We know each others passwords for everything. We've always been very honest and open in our relationship from the very beginning. If anything ever would come up, I would just ask him or he would probably ask me.

We don't ever talk about snooping, unless there's a holiday/birthday coming up and we have to specifically warn the other not to check our email because there's a gift related email in there. We each have each other's passwords to everything (mainly because we use the same passwords, pretty much), but we would never just long in to each other's emails randomly to check, or go through each other's phones. I mean, not that we COULDN'T, there would just be no reason to do that.

We don't have snooping issues. That I know of 
We know each others passwords. He leaves his facebook, etc. up on the computer and I just sign right out of it and put mine on. If I wanted to know something, I would just ask.

We have all of each other's passwords too so there is no real way of snooping. It would just be called looking. Ha!

I wouldn't say we snoop because snooping to me implies you're looking for something that's hidden. Neither of us hide things from each other. In fact, we're doing good to hide Christmas gifts without giving them up 2 months before. We both know all passwords but not because we're snooping. More because one of will be away somewhere and say something like "hey, can you log on my e-mail and get me so and so's phone number." or "I have a recipe saved on facebook, can you look it up for me." My husband always plays games on my phone so anything like a text of facebook notification would pop up anyway.

We don't snoop. I snooped into an ex's email because I suspected he was up to something, and yup, found out he was cheating. I have never, ever been tempted to snoop on my husband, which is one of the reasons I feel he's "the one". We just trust each other. We also don't share passwords.

We don't have a snooping policy but there has never been a reason to snoop nor is there anything to snoop through. In terms of emails and stuff, that's his own personal business and I don't need to know who emails him and what it's about.

I have snooped in previous relationships, and I am normally glad I did. If I have that gut feeling, I need to know!
DH and I don't really have a policy on snooping. We don't really have anything private though, so no matter what, it doesn't feel like we are snooping. I have looked through his cell phone out of boredom, and I know that he has done the same. We don't really feel like its snooping though because we are open about it and we aren't trying to find anything.

We don;t have a policy. We actually have each others online email and facebook passwords so we can check stuff for the other. It's not a big deal.
Although I'd be hurt if he looked in my stuff and was questioning me over Who is that person, etc, and was accusing me of something.

We don't have a policy on snooping, because neither of us would ever do it. We don't have each others passwords, because neither of us feel we need that information. I do have his phone passcode so I can send/reply to texts while he is driving or whatnot, but I would never, ever go through his phone.

We don't snoop, but we are open if one of us wants information. We each have designated gift places where we know not to look, and if it's money related, it's easy to check our shared account. We're very open to each other and love to surprise each other, and since we both like surprises, it keeps the snooping as a non-issue.

I don't snoop, even though I know all of the passwords to DH's email, phone unlock etc and he knows mine. He gets email alerts if I use the debit card or credit card, so there is no "hiding" shopping anymore.

There are very few reasons to snoop. We both know each other's email passwords and could, if we wanted to. I'll admit, I went into my husband's email when I needed something once but I won't look around. I think we're both pretty boring people, so we don't have much to snoop for.

We don't really have a snooping policy as it isn't an issue. We both have access to everything, but have never felt the need to or have 'snooped.'
