Do you ever take your LO out of the house in just a onesie? I'm finding that we rarely wear onesies alone (even at home). We have sooo many onesies that never get worn.

No. I wouldn't....they are "under shirts" to me. We have some really nice ones (Ed Hardy, RL, Nike...) that are cute and are meant to be seen: we wear those with baby legs or shorts when we go out . Never ever alone in public...
He does wear them in the house though! Or just to bed. We get lots of pictures:) so I feel like the cute onesies don't go to waste.
You might wanna consult @runningelley Her kid doesn't "do" pants;) and they too, live in Cali.

I feel like he doesn't really look dressed with just a onesie. So I'll add pants or babylegs, but if it's too hot I'll just put a romper or creeper on him. They look more like full outfits to me but are cooler and easier than several pieces of clothing.

No, the only time DS was in his onesie only was when we were in the house. Even then, he usually had on pants too though.

we put her in her "nice" onesis for outings, usually ones with prints or what not on them. i think they are cute! esp with a big belly spilling over them

I don't like to take him out in just a onsie. He usually just wears a onsie at home and then I just throw some shorts on him and instant outfit! Plus, I feel like with out the shorts, the car seat straps rub on his legs.

Not really. I always add a pair of pants and trumpettes or shoes so she looks dressed.

Oh yeah, when it's hot out? Definitely. I have no shame. I'll even take her out in a onesie and barefooted (if she's in the stroller).

LO is almost always just in a onesie. She spends a lot of time in the K'tan which gets warm and I think she looks super cute in them. Pants look strange on her.

I have but I usually put shorts/pants/skirts on her. I keep an extra one in the diaper bag though, so if something happened to her outfit I'd put one on. One time I didn't have anything and I had to carry her out of the mall in a diaper and an a&a blanket. Embarrassing!

We did for the first 2-3 months, but once he was more than a newborn, I would thrown on a pair of leggings too.

@shopaholic:
1. She is so little it is totally acceptable.
2. It's HOT - what are you gonna do?!
3. You choose damn cute onesies so that makes it look like an outfit. The one you posted on IG actually looked kind of like a romper!

If it were hot I totally would! Definitely still too cold right now.... He's wearing a long sleeved onesie, a tshirt, cardigan, sweats, and socks! May add a puffy vest too. I'm freezing! And wearing my coat indoors with three layers on underneath.... Brrrrrrrr.
Exactly one week ago we were sweltering hot and a tank top was almost too much to wear. Oh, Canada.

@mediagirl: ditto. It was 90+ over Mother's Day weekend (until yesterday!) and she was in a onesie the entire time.

all the time, my daughter sweats very easily and there are lots of decorated onesies that are meant to be worn as shirts and not undershirts

My favorite outfits for Wagon Jr. when he was a baby were those one-piece rompers! Onesies that extended down to shorts.
We may or may not bring LMW out into public in her footie pajamas... on a regular basis... poor 2nd child

I haven't yet cause she has so many dresses that are cuter. I don't like the look as much, but if we were home and that is what she had on, and we needed to run out, I probably would put shorts on her.

@ladyfingers: This is exactly how I feel! Rompers or creepers are okay, but body-suit onesies seem really weird on their own for me!
@Mrs. Pen: Actually the last IG picture IS a romper! Or at least in my definition... it's "bubbly" vs. a fitted bodycon onesie. lol!

@shopaholic: I think it has to do with the diaper hanging out maybe? It's not normally something that bothers me, but it does when we're out and about.
bananas / 9973 posts
@ladyfingers: Oh yes! I definitely don't like seeing a diaper hanging out of the leg holes. lol!

I did on occasion when it was super hot last summer. They're thinner than rompers. Usually, I would just put her in a cute romper though.
blogger / pomegranate / 3201 posts
Not usually, but he wears them alone at home (in the front and backyards) all the time!
pear / 1946 posts
She was born in the summer and its like 105 here so yes, I definitely took her out in just a onesie for the first few months. . Now she's almost a year and I don't really like them on her, even with pants so I find myself buying more shirts.
GOLD / wonderful grape / 20289 posts
LO was always in a onesie when she was a baby. When she got older I asked on here when people started putting bottoms on their baby..... pretty much everyone said since they were born. I think it's different here though. I live in Florida, it's sooooo hot here.
pomegranate / 3388 posts
I did when she was a little baby, but now at 1 year I like to put her in actual outfits. I do love rompers though -- the convenience of a onesie, with the cuteness of an outfit!
honeydew / 7917 posts
When my LO was a baby I would let him wear a onesie to the store with no problems. It was hot, and shorts seemed silly to me. Of course he's a boy, and I might not do the same with a baby girl. I have also let him wear pajamas in public. Once he was older, I would leave him in a onesie at home but put shorts on him in public.

once to walk 4 houses down to my Aunts house and now the running joke is pants optional at grandma's house LOL
pear / 1609 posts
LO is just in a onesie at home and if we go out I put shorts or pants on him.
honeydew / 7687 posts
@shopaholic: LOL @ body-con onesie... like @mrskc I think the straps rub his little legs with just a onesie so we usually throw on shorts! But I wouldn't blink to see a baby out in just a onesie. Comfy and cool is key to me in summer.
grapefruit / 4669 posts
Sometimes, but usually if I know she'll come out of her car seat then I'll put an outfit on her. But if she poops on it, out comes the emergency onesie from the diaper bag, in which case I'm no longer concerned with her wearing a whole outfit.
bananas / 9973 posts
@bunnylove08: LOL!
@mrskc: @scg00387: I definitely think about that too! I would think they would get a rash or something from the car seat straps!
coconut / 8305 posts
Occasionally but it's really hot here in the summer, usually they're paired with shorts/skirt/pants/tights just depending on the weather. Tbh I find onesies about the equivalent to sleepers... neither are really for wear outside of the house.
