I was disappointed.
What was up with that giant baby? And the back and forth videos? Random celebrities like Mr.Bean?...
I didn't have high hopes because the one in Beijing was crazy exp and well done, but I was really disappointed.

I was disappointed too. Some parts were cool, but nothing more.

I think they used mr bean, paul mccartney, beckham etc because they are famous british icons, i'm surprised they left out elton john. I was hoping it would be good, but it was a bit too all over the place. I did like how they transformed the field from the grassy hills to modern day london. and i loved the torch lighting but the kids on the beds and the giant baby were a bit odd

I liked the transformation too and I wish they featured more british singers/music groups!

I loved the transition from pastoral to industrial, but they lost me at the hospital scene. In the digital age, the music was fun, but the background story there was just weird.

It certainly wasn't the most exciting ceremony, but I think it felt true to the Brits. I think China had a lot to prove a few years ago so they pulled out all the stops! But the Brits are a bit more subtle and I liked how they brought in some of their history.

@sweetchic: OH i agree. I liked how they made it all about the Brits. even though the olympics is about the world, it's nice to have some history on the country it's hosted in.

I think it got a little boring. I loved it when the queen parachuted in with 007 and when Mary Poppins arrived.

I really enjoyed it, but passed out before they lit the flame because I had a crazy day at work.

Meh, I wasn't a fan. I feel like they were trying too hard to be intellectual, when really, I was just looking to be entertained. The torch lighting was probably my favorite part!

Once I saw the Mexican team's outfits, I gouged my eyes out and forgot everything else.

i didn't expect it to top Beijing, but i was expecting more interesting stories related to sports..not just kids & dreams/nightmares. so it was a big *YAWN* for me...

Considering they were doing a fantasy/children's literature montage, I can't believe they left out J.R.R. Tolkien!

I enjoyed parts of it (though I did give up part way through the parade of nations because it was too late for me) but I thought it was disjointed. I will say it was VERY British. There were lots of in-jokes and things that were specifically for a British audience, which was sort of nice, but I'm sure didn't translate well.
