My resolution for the coming year is to go to and host more dinner parties! Oops gotta learn to cook first...
Other than Thanksgiving, do you go to (or host) dinner parties?

One of the summer food truck guys has started catering dinner parties in the winter. Dh and I are having him over for a dinner party (for 18, eek!!) next week. I'm super excited !

Only having a set of parents over for grilling once in a while. It doesn't happen often.

@mrbee: he needed a minimum of 8..so I asked our core group of friends and they were all "maybes/not sure". So then we asked another group of friends who were all yeses...then the first group all came back as yeses too! Oops. Dh is stressed, I think the more the merrier

We do 3-4 a year. I love to entertain. Plus we usually throw a neighbor party, a Christmas party and a backyard movie night that don't include dinner each year.

We have friends over regularly on the weekends because it's easier than going out and, frankly, I cook better and cheaper food than we can get at a restaurant around here. (No point in being modest, the local restaurants are underwhelming. ) Also, although LO is typically a rockstar at restaurants, I've found that it's generally easier on him and his little buddies if we're in a place where staying at the table once the eating is over is optional.
We invite people over or go to our family's/friends' houses for all the holidays. I associate getting dressed up with the term "dinner party", and we don't usually do that, although I do typically make fancy party-like food for dinner and get out my nicer glasses and china when we have guests.

We usually have one or two big dinner parties per year--for Passover for sure, and usually another holiday or bday. I think the most we cooked for was 14, in our little NYC apt! But we also often have smaller groups over for dinner, like for one to five extra people. We have close friends who live on our block who come over like once a week, so,etimes we order take out but dh often cooks and they bring dessert. Dh loves to cook!

There's also Christmas and Easter which end up being pretty similar to Thanksgiving haha!

Nope, but I'd really like to start! I honestly don't have any friends who have ever thrown a dinner party, so I don't know if it would go over well in my group lol! Maybe I'll just have to start it up

We love hosting dinner parties! Our favorite is to host a Murder Mystery dinner party for Halloween every year!
We'll love it even more once we get a dishwasher one day...

Yes, we love to entertain. We try to do a fe fun dinner parties/game nights each year with friends, we also regularly host our families for Sunday night dinner.

For the holidays yes, but at random times hardly ever. If we ever "settle down" and have a core group of local friends I think that's something I'd like to do more regularly.

Yes, we host about once a month. We hosted an Xmas dinner party last year with 13 adults and 3 kids. We used to plan really labour intensive meals, but now it's all about what can be done ahead of time and still taste great.
@MamaMoose: Now that we have kids, we have been doing a lot of brunch parties (we hosted 3 brunches in 2 weeks).

We host a lot. Of our core group of friends, we're the only ones with a house (our friends are either single and living at home, or single/engaged/married living in 1-bedroom condos) so often our house is the go-to place for dinners/parties.

Not formal ones (though I'd live to do more!) but we sometimes have a bunch of people over to hang out/play ping pong/watch movies and if it's close to dinner time I feed everyone while they're here. I imagine we won't do it quite so often this coming year, since we'll have an infant, but hopefully it won't take too long to get back into it. I love feeding people!

When should we come over?
I like to host for dinner, but the problem seems to be the kids and their nap times right now.

No our place is too small right now! Maybe in a few years if/when we buy a house.
