I remember having my first latte at 13; I thought I was sooooo cool! I don't know - around that age/middle school for occasional mochas and whatnot seems fine to me.
I'm the minority here but I'm more comfortable with real coffee/tea than decaf. I would be less comfortable with LO drinking decaf, just as I am less comfortable drinking it myself.
@pui: my LO *loves* tea! I drink a lot more tea than coffee these days and LO begs and begs for tea. I water her "tea" down a bunch and I don't add much sugar to my tea so she doesn't drink it because it's sweet - I guess she just LOVES the flavor of black tea. Weird little kid

Neither one of us are coffee drinkers, but we would allow the occasional "treat" in high school (like others have said, a frapp or something like that) but wouldn't allow it daily. Once they're 18, they can drink it how often they'd like and buy it themselves.

I was drinking coffee at 3! Granted it had a lot of cream and sugar added. My husband is very anti-coffee. We won't necessarily offer coffee, but at 12 or 13 I wouldn't rip it out of my kid's hands.

I don't know, whenever they want it? I'm not going to let my 3 year old have 5 cups of coffee a day, obviously, but if a 6 year old asks to have a cup like Mommy, sure! I might even leave it black so they don't like it

My sister was obsessed with being just like my mom as a toddler and I remember we had a mini tea set and mom would occasionally put some watered down coffee for her in the little cup. She loved it and thought she was so cool!
I'm in the Northwest and lots of coffee consumption is considered pretty much the norm here. I'd be okay with my kids having a cup here or there starting in junior high!
