We are going to the coast on our first trip with the baby. I put together a packing list that looks complete to me. Anything I should add or keep in mind? Thank you!!

Ha, funny enough we have a fridge in my SUV. It has come in handy more than I thought it would.

When do you start needing bibs and what for? Teething? We have not used any yet.
I think I am going to just buy extras of the frequently used health stuff so I can have a pre packed travel bag for her, just like I have, it's nice to be able to grab and go.

Sunscreen if its going to be sunny.
Ziploc bags for dirty clothes or diapers while you are out and about.
Paci clip so it doesn't get lost or dropped.
A small squeaky toy to distract her with if she gets cranky in the car.
DH set up a soothing Pandora station to play in the car when DS got riled up to help him fall asleep.
A thicker/darker blanket or a towel to throw over the carseat to help the baby fall asleep.
Hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes.
Bring jammies that are both warmer and cooler than ones you wear at home - temps can fluctuate a lot in different rooms.
Be mindful of bathing circumstances. We ended up bathing DS in the sink on our first hotel trip but it wouldn't have worked on the second trip.

@Mamaof2: yes on bottles, but she keeps her milk on her face for the most part. @gingerbebe: awesome. These are so helpful. Most of these things are in the diaper bag. Can you reccomend a baby sunscreen?

Are you travelling by car? I always keep a trash bag and a towel right by the car seat, just in case of car sickness.

I would also research ahead of time for doctors/hospitals in the area.. JUST in case!

@youboots: haha, just saw that your LO was under 2 months. Definitely don't need toys then!

@youboots: no sunscreen at 2 months- so I would bring a sun hat and clothes to help cover him up. If you are going to the beach set up an umbrella and lay him on a towel under the umbrella.
Seems like a pretty good list. I always like to bring extra A&A blankets- they come in handy as a nursing cover, blanket, burp cloths, etc.

@snowjewelz: thank you. It is only 90 minutes from home but there is a hospital. My Mom had to go to the emergency room for stitches last time she was at the beach house and they took good care of her.

@Foodnerd81: yeah I thought no sunscreen for the first 6 months? It's the Oregon coast. We will keep walks short if it's sunny. There are only 2 months a year where we do much beach lounging.

@youboots: yeah no sunscreen for first six months is correct. I think some ped's will say sunscreen is better than sun exposure in certain situations (like a 4 month old traveling to Mexico) but in Oregon I am sure you won't have a problem just keeping him covered.

Oh and bring baby powder if you'd be at the beach; I heard they are great for getting wet sand off!
