I might be in the minority here because I didn't like the RnP, but I loooove our PnP. LO has slept in it from birth and I think that it is awesome because it is similar in size to the crib and is flat like the crib so I think that transitioning her to her crib is going to be a breeze when I'm ready to do that (and she's already taken a few naps in her crib just fine). Plus I was worried about flat spots with the RnP, and I also never felt like she was super safe sleeping for long periods in it because her chin would fall down (although I know tons of people do it, it just freaked me out the 1 week we had to do it because she had a cold).

we loved the RNP and never had a PNP, but my parents have one for visits there, so we were covered on that too. we brought the RNP for visits elsewhere, and it worked great. That said, she outgrew the RNP earlier than she'd probably have outgrown the PNP (for playtime at least). she slept overnight in a bassinet early on though.

I loved the PNP. we have the standard sized one and a bigger one (Graco TotBlock). we didn't rely on it, but it was FANTASTIC to keep her separated from the dog, give her some independent play time, or allow her to veg and watch some mickey while I caught a cat nap next to her on the couch, lol!

We had a PNP, no RNP. She slept in the PNP next to our bed for the first 4 months and we've used it several times while traveling. It also made the transition to the crib seamless because she was used to sleeping on a flat surface.

ETA: If our LO had had reflux or trouble sleeping flat I definitely would've tried the RNP. So that's what I recommend: starting out with the PNP and if your LO has trouble sleeping flat you can always run out and get a RNP. But if your LO will sleep flat (in a PNP or bassinet) you may save yourself some headaches down the line by not even introducing the RNP.

We never had a RNP and didn't miss it. We have a PNP and love it. I used it when I wanted Xander to get used to sleeping in a crib, but still near me before he started daycare. And now we use it whenever we go somewhere and he'll need to nap/sleep for the night. It's so convenient to have!

Both...for us, the PnP has been changer in our room and she'll take naps in there. But I can take the RnP in the bathroom when I shower, fold laundry, to grand parents, etc.

We had just a PnP with my first two and did fine with that though.

I wound up with both. I liked the rock and play for the time I could use it, it is smallery, easier to transport, no packing etc... but you get a lot more life out of a pack and play. We are using our pack and play as a crib / playpen when we travel now at 15 months which is impossible for the rock and play. I vote both, but if you have a budget thing or don't like items taking up space go pack and play.

I have both, but we got a lot more use out of the PnP. I got the RnP because I read on here what a life saver they are and how so many babies love them. Well, my DS didn't get that memo, lol. The first few weeks he refused to be put down, including in the RnP.

We ended up co-sleeping a lot and then later I used the PnP next to our bed. It took a lot of effort to get him to sleep independently, so I figured he was already used to lying flat from being in our bed, and I didn't want to have to deal with getting him used to the RnP only to have to transition to the crib later.

We did get some use out of the RnP eventually for naps in the living room (he didn't nap in his crib for a long time). We probably could've done without it, but every baby is different :).

We didn't have either. We used a bassinet for a few weeks before transitioning to a structured co-sleeper.

Loved having the flexibility of both even in our small apartment. The RnP folds so compactly and is easy to transport between rooms. We have stashed it away for maybe baby #2, but I am so so glad we had both.

We had both. I have gotten a LOT more use out of the PnP. We used it as a downstairs changing station / napping spot in the early days. Then we changed it to a playpen at about 6 months which she loved. We also use it frequently as a travel crib although she is not a huge fan.

We used the RnP for the first 3 months & I will say that those things are like Xanax for babies. She slept SO well in it, and she was a fussy newborn. It's nice that they are so portable too.

If you are registering I would register for both and if you don't get both, maybe get just the PnP? It doesn't seem that folks without the RnP miss it too much & it is hard to wean from.

We had both, but barely used the pack n play. Loved our rock n play though!
