I hurt my tailbone really bad last night, so much that I can't sit or lay on it. I have Tylenol but what else do you suggest for pain relief? Keep in mind I'm pregnant. Has anyone injured their tailbone, and how long did the pain last?

I've bruised my tailbone and my mom broke her tailbone once. In both cases it took plain rest and staying off of it as much as possible. For my bruise it was several days of laying there. For my mom's break she had some painkillers but it was more than a week of not doing anything.

Ouch! Have you tried sitting on one of those donuts? Like the ones you use post natural delivery? I'm sure the only thing you can take is Tylenol since you're pregnant; but definitely check with your OB if you're in a lot of pain. Hope you feel better soon!

Normally, I'd say ibuprofen, but since that's off limits, now, I'd go for the tylenol.
Can you go see your doctor to see if they can prescribe something?

@pelikila: this is not a good week for that, and having a toddler doesn't help! @erwoo: I don't have one but maybe a boppy would work?

You could try it. Maybe safety pin it together or temporarily sew ribbons to tie it together to make the hole smaller. You don't want it too big bc it could hurt you more. Hope it works to save you a trip to the store.

I was an (apparently terrible) figure skater, so I've busted/bruised my tailbone a LOT, including when I gave birth to LO.
Try to lean forward a bit when you sit so you're on your sit bones rather than your tail bone. This might be easier said than done while pregnant? Pillow behind your lumbar section should push you forward a bit.
Also, I use a topical pain reliever called Myoflex It doesn't seem to be contraindicated for pregnancy, but you could ask the pharmacist. I'd rub that on the spot as well as taking some Tylenol.
ETA: Actual bottle just says "tell your doctor if you're pregnant", but Dr. Google says an ingredient might not be safe.

@erwoo: ok I'll see what I can come up with!
@Sapphiresun: I will see if there is something I can use like that, thank you!

@yellowbird: ha it's embarrassing but long story short I backed into the corner of an open cabinet. Slammed the corner right under my tailbone.
