I am almost positive I didn't have this painful of a letdown with my first child - only when I had mastitis, blocked duct, etc. With my second it's painful almost every time!
I know a few other moms in my due date month said the same thing. Luck of the draw, or a subsequent baby thing?

Mine was bad for awhile with my first - it felt like bolts of lightening were zinging my boobs when they let down!

I had a forceful letdown with LO1, but it's forceful AND painful with LO2. I'm hoping that lessens at some point! Not looking forward to experiencing this for 12+ months.

I've had painful letdown with both of my kids. At almost 5 months pp, it's still going strong with DD. I was just talking with a girlfriend about this last night!

It wasn't necessarily painful, just...intense. Lots of pressure. It didn't let up until I stopped pumping. I don't even feel it now.

Mine is borderline painful. It feels like a sting and lasts a few seconds. It didn't start until a few weeks and hasn't stopped yet- LO is 11 weeks.

Mine is like a mildly painful burning sensation, only lasts a few secs tho and I never feel it when LO actually eats, but I feel it when I randomly let down during the day!

Mine is super tingly like needles. I mostly feel it randomly during the day to like @snowjewelz.

Mine is more painful this time around than with #1. With her, I just got a tingling sensation, while this time it feels more sharp like needle pricks.

I had this issue with LO#2, but not LO#1. A LC suggested I might be deficient in B vitamins. So, I started taking a B vitamin supplement and the pain went away.
B vitamins give you energy, so take in the morning, not at night.

@bluebonnet: that's really interesting. I stopped taking B vitamins after my first trimester with both pregnancies and never picked back up until I wanted to get pregnant again (B complex helped me get and stay pregnant)....I have had painful letdown while nursing both babies - I'll give this a try since I'm still BFing baby #2.

Mine was so strong and extremely uncomfortable with my second baby. It lets up after a while, but it was definitely different than with my first.

I don't ever remember feeling letdown with M, but I feel it and it is uncomfortable with J. Feels like stinging, pins and needles. I actually don't find it to be painful when I'm nursing him, but if I let down randomly during the day or while I'm trying to get situated to nurse him - it hurts.

@sorrycharlie: Mine was SO painful for the first 4-6 weeks-it almost felt like glass cutting 
. I had to brace myself whenever he started and grit my teeth. Luckily that has gone away and it's a very dull, quick pain now. I hope yours improves, too! ETA: this is my first baby, so no idea whether or not it gets worse with subsequent babies (I hope not!).

I'm one of those in the due date group experiencing the same thing. It's like random zaps throughout the day/night! I definitely did not have this the first time.

I'm getting periodic zaps throughout the day too. Hardly ever when the baby is actually eating. Often it's quite stingy.
