It is hard! It looks like you had some color on your walls to start with? Adding color over color can really skew the results . . . as can lighting and flooring.

LOL. I know how you feel. I tried the color samples like that and still got it all wrong. I've had to re-paint the master and dining room. The master bedroom color made it for 2 years cause I was too lazy to do it again after it took me 8-9 hours. The dining room was SO bad I redid it less than a month later. It's really amazing how no matter how big a patch you paint, it still looks totally different once you do the whole room and are completely surrounded by the new color.

Ugh, I am so with you on that. I painted my master bath and bedroom the same color, and they look completely different. It bothers me to no end, but not so much that I want to repaint the room all by myself (I was painting over purple, so it took three coats of primer and two coats of paint to get rid of that purple).

@evansjamie: @runnerd: yes, we have a neutral gray upstairs and it reads really light so I had my husband use it on the walls of our walk-out basement. It reads super dark down there and we have dark wood floors picked out. I'm hoping once we install decent lighting it will read lighter (although there's a wall of windows so it gets lots of natural light).

I like #1 or #2 but it is hard to tell what it *actually* looks like in pictures.

We used SW to match BM stone castle for our bedroom and I LOVE the color.
