The recent thread on mommy make up routines made me realize I really need some new make up. The last time I bought anything was about 2.5 years ago for my engagement pictures. I have always hated shopping for make up (especially foundation, concealers, powders, etc) because I am quite pale with almost no yellow undertones. Almost everything I have ever bought looks yellow on me.
Any suggestions? I really need to go shopping!

I love BareEscentuals. I feel like the powder foundation, the blush, the bronzer and all the "glow" powders are so easy to blend to a perfect shade of rosy or sunkissed - and you can easily control how much coverage you need.
I use their products with MAC concealer daily.

I have pink undertones (hope I am remembering right!) and like you, foundations often look yellow on me. I'm also about as pale as Casper the ghost, so many brands lightest shade is too dark.
I like Revlon colorstay foundation, and also Chanel liquid foundation.

I am so pale! Mac foundation is too yellow for me. The best I've found for my skin tone is Clinique Superbalanced Foundation

I use Revlon Colorstay mostly. I use translucent powder to set my t-zone, it's Covergirl, I think? I do run a little olive-y though.
I've been wanting to try Bare Minerals though. I think I'd be "Fairly Light" in their shades.

I just bought Josie Maran tinted moisturizer in the lightest shade and no yellow. I also use Korres mineral powder. You can always go to sephora and have someone help you find the right shade.

Revlon color stay. I love it. I use the second to lightest color and it stays all day. I use Loreal mineral finish over it.
I used to use bare minerals or the Loreal mineral but it just didn't last all day.

I'm the opposite of pale but I used to be a make up artist and I loved using Laura Mercier (Silk Creme Foundation) or Stila on my pale clients =) They stay a true rose base and no yellowing.

I recommend going to sephora and getting color matched! I walked out with a bunch of different samples to try out..was able to find my perfect match!

I use the lightest tone of bare minerals. I went into Sephora the other day looking for a liquid foundation to try, and I'm so pale they couldn't find anything to match my skin. The rep even recommended that I get a tan!

@thismustbetheplace: I didn't have much luck at Sephora either - every one they tried on me was too dark! (Using only the lightest shades).

@thismustbetheplace: They would never have suggested that to Dita Von Teese! *augh* I have read that (one of) her foundation choices is L'Oreal True Match in N1. Maybe that will be light enough?

@MrsH: I have tried bare minerals before and bought the lightest starter pack and that was still too yellow. Do you know what the name of the color you use is?

@thismustbetheplace: I had the same problem! The make up I bought for my engagement photos was from sephora with some help was the lightest she could find but still is slightly yellow. If I use it lightly it works well enough.

I used to use MakeUp Forever's lightest shade but that got to be too dark. Bobbi Brown is now my current favorite. I'm not even the lightest one in that line so I still have a few options left if I somehow manage to get more pale.
When I go in Sephora, I always find the palest sales girl I can find to help me. The pale girls seem to know more than the others who just simply pick the lightest foundation of a particular brand.

I've been using Almay Smart Shade liquid makeup in the lightest color. It's good because it does that color match thing so you don't have to get the exact right color of your skin. I don't know how it works, but it does!

i have fair skin with pink undertones and (dark undereye circles!). i use laura mercier tinted moisturizer in nude and her secret camo concealer in #3 (it's 2 colors you can blend, based on how light or dark you are that day.) stila also has good colors for fair skin (as did prescriptives, which you can still buy online)

@MrsScallop: I use the color fair it has pink undertones. The fairly light has yellow undertones.

I'm really pale...there's a new beauty store near here that I plan on going to soon, to learn what I'm supposed to be doing with myself.
