I'll being sharing on my limited, private FB and a few on my blog... haven't quite figured out what I'm going to do about my blog.

There is no such thing as security on Facebook.

@mrsjyw: & instagram, I hope?!

I'm unsure what I'm going to do. Realistically, there's no such thing as security anywhere - like @MsLipGloss said. Anyone can screen shot your page/photo/anything and share it. Or leave their page logged in somewhere. Etc...

I'm not going to be an over-sharer, however..no naked baby pictures, poopy diapers, etc. That said, someone who is a pedophile will be attracted to the photo of your child whether they are nudie or in a snowsuit.

I read a very popular parenting/personal blog and I recall the parents blogging about how police contacted them, having found a photo of their daughter (that they shared on their blog) on someone's computer halfway around the world (if I remember correctly). Someone they did not know, nor had any idea was even reading their blog, I'm sure...creepy.

Something that will bother me - my grandmother made a facebook last year and is so annoying/obnoxious with it. She takes EVERYONE's photos from our family and reposts them as her own. And if no one comments on it - she'll post it again, and again, and again, all over everyone's walls. I do not want her "stealing" my photos to pretend she took them...I am not even sure how to approach that with her.

@anonysquire: LOL..omg shit would hit the fan. she's such a freakin' drama queen! she talked about my mom, next to my mom, at Christmas because my mom wouldn't friend her. (It's my moms MIL). my mom hates her and deliberately won't add her.

Ive shared a couple of pictures on WB and a few here. I have a ton on facebook. HB and facebook are different because there is a bit of privacy.

I share on FB because I'm overseas and it's the best way for my family in the states to keep updated.

I was going to keep stuff on lockdown but my whole family posted so much... the cat is out of the bag. So I post here and facebook.

@sorrycharlie: My dad totally does the reposting of photos as if they are his. He doesn't keep re-posting them if no one comments, but practically every photo he has was taken from someone else's page. Doesn't really bother me (yet-- I don't have LOs yet either though) but I do notice it.

@anonysquire: I'm really interested in the reasoning as well and was just thinking about it this weekend. My friend disabled her whole FB account to avoid anyone posting photos of her son. I guess i don't understand what people will do with a photo if only your friends can see it (I realize it's never really private and all that). I live far away from my family and I love seeing my nephews' photos and hope they will want to see my future LOs.

I don't even have a Facebook page, and my husband doesn't share pictures of the kids on his page. Facebook actually owns everything you put on their site, and I'm just not comfortable with giving them that kind of power, so I opt out.

We do have a password-protected Google site for family and friends, and we post pictures/videos of the kids on there.

I will post on here and FB and instagram, however there will be no naked baby pics. I have family all over the US, so it's the only way for some of them to see our future baby!

I don't see the harm in posting pictures and first names on HB.....what could someone possibly do with your baby's first name? Also, I share pictures on my private facebook often.

I don't understand why she would even have a FB page if she is that concerned. Does that mean she doesn't put ANY personal information on it?

I totally get not over sharing and being protective of your info, but if you're going to be online, I think it's fine to post up one photo.

I totally understand why people wouldn’t want to share baby pictures/names online and I respect it. I’ll be sharing pictures/names here on HB, maybe on WB and definitely on FB. I won’t be posting a new picture of him on FB every day though and I also won’t be posting any naked baby pictures.

@Running Elley: yeah... agreed. the only naked pic I have of LO on FB is from his newborn session and it's just too presh not to post!

I will post LOs name and pictures of on facebook to an extent - I have friends and family who go overboard and I think some level of restraint is necessary. I have to have a discussion with my aunt about re-sharing pictures of LO - she almost announced our pregnancy and the gender on facebook before I could (luckily, I remembered to tell her not to before she did) and she tends to reshare those kinds of things with her friends, most of whom I don't know and are people she went to high school with, etc. She already requested weekly photos and updates of the baby when she is little on facebook. I told her that weekly updates probably will not happen, but I will post some photos on there, and am open to emailing updates to friends and family members if they ask.

I also have a blog where I have been sharing my pregnancy and other things. It's tricky because I want to share what we are doing, but I also want to protect my LO. I will probably use a nickname, like I do for my DH, and will have to think more about what I am going to do with pictures.
