@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: are the booties one time use or reusable where you are responsible to wash them?

Honestly when I was a first time Mom and saw this it really bothered me but now I'm an offender of this rule. Not that I think it's right by any means. When I saw it happen I never did anything because I didn't know how to address it. I always just vented to my husband.

Meh I'd have been super annoyed as a FTM of a small infant, but maybe Dad was having a terrible AM and simply forgot something in the car. I certainly forgot to take my shoes off from time to time. I wouldn't tattle because I'd probably violate by accident the next day!

Honestly, I'd say nothing. Our daycare didn't have the booties rule, though some did that I toured. I thought it was a bit overkill. So, to me him wearing old booties is the same as wearing shoes - no big deal (to me).

I feel like this guy just doesn't understand what the booties are for and that they're disposable. I hate to be sexist, but it kinda seems like a "clueless dad" thing. Like he was told he has to wear booties, so he thinks he has to take 1 pair and put them on every day, over and over? And he does it before he comes in to save time?

He just needs to have someone gently tell him how to use the booties correctly. I feel like this is akin to seeing someone try to wash their hands with lotion--they just don't know what they are doing and need someone to tell them.

Gross, that would drive me crazy! Babies literally lick the floor sometimes--would he want his kid licking the bottom of someone's shoe? I would definitely push harder about having someone address the dad if you see it happening again.

That's gross. The thought of my baby crawling all over a surface where someone's outside shoes were - that's a no to me (but we are a no shoes household)

I'd ask the director to say something to that parent.

I jsut dont understand. Why go through the trouble of saving booties. Why not toss them at the door. Maybe he can't sit down on the bench so he puts them on in the car? I just don't see the point.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Our infant room has the booties outside the door and everyone ignores them. I have never seen a parent put them on.

How old are the teachers? Are they super young? Because I feel like this is easily solved by one of the teachers saying to the dad, "you know, you can get new booties every time. They are designed for single use, so parents don't track debris into the room where babies are lying on the floor."

Simple.

@Anagram: agree. It's not something you should have to address. Ask the director to remind him. I don't think it's a huge deal- I've never seen or heard of this. But it's their rule so they should enforce it.
