To me, that sounds like "most of the time" rather than part time. Especially if you're going to use them while at home and overnight (it sounds like you'll only be using disposables when you leave home. Is LO going to be in daycare soon?). If that's the case, you definitely go through more than 3-4 diapers per day.

I would say you would need at the very least 12, to do wash once a day. When do you want to start? Will you only do 3-4 diapers a day then stop or as long as you are at home?

You'll want to change a cloth diaper more often than a disposable. We cloth diaper full time and go through about 16-20 diapers a day.

Subscribing! Mine will be in disposables for 8 hours/day at daycare and cloth the rest of the time.

1) How many CDs do you use approx. per day? 5-6
2) Do you wash them every day/every other day and how many in a load? I wash on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays or Sundays. There are usually 12-15 in a load.
3) Is there enough for a load by itself or do you wash them with other baby clothes? I never wash diapers with clothes. Kind of grosses me out. Plus, diapers get cleaner if you have 12-18 diapers in a diaper only load (I throw wipes and liners in there too).

We CD 6 days a week and use disposables on Sundays and at night. I thought the we would use disposables when we were out too. If we have to be gone all day then I will, but otherwise, it's really not a pain to carry an extra diaper and a wet bag. I thought I would be out and about constantly, but once we got a routine, and regular nap times appeared, it's rare that I'm out long enough to need more than one diaper change if that. Usually I just go out twice a day because it works with naps. It works out that I change her at home.

@shopaholic: it was the perfect age. If I did it before then there is no way I would of stuck with it BC learning cloth diapers (along with some problems we had with them that are thankfully resolved) with learning how to take care of a newborn would be to exhausting for me. (Dummy me didnt research cloth diapera mucb until after i had P). Plus we use aio bum genius and I don't think they would of fit my skinny baby right away even though he was over 8 pounds at birth!

We CD 95% of the time. If we're going to be away from home for more than 3- 4 hours, we use a disposable diaper, otherwise LO is in cloth.

To me, its not a big deal to bring an extra CD and wet bag while we are out and change LO's diaper once. However, if I'm going to be gone an extended period of time I do not want to lug several cloth diapers (clean and dirty).

We do diapers every 2-3 days (you don't want them to sit longer than that).

I never mix baby clothes with diapers in the wash because diapers require a hot rinse and I don't want to shrink baby clothes.

I'm part time cloth diapering right now as we ease into it full time. I've been doing it during the day since I've been home with LO myself... usually end up with 3 dirty dipes by end of day... and clean up is usually pretty minimal and I keep them air dry in LO's bathroom until my next load of laundry is full and I add it to that stash. I haven't yet to do a wash with JUST CDs since we don't use them enough yet. (I've been reusing the 3 second-hand dipes I bought, to see if we'll go full-time with them).
