OMG that is so cute. I might have to steal your idea - DD3's "thing" is unicorns, and I'm planning a unicorn themed 1st bday as well (7 months from now, haha).

@Mrs D: thanks! Did you use multiple tools to pipe icing? The thought of washing mine 6-6 times for the mane is a bit intimidating!

@PinkElephant: I bought 5 tips and 5 bags...it made it so easy! I filled the bags and stood them up on tall water glasses so I could keep them all in rotation! The tips are $1/piece and the bags were $4 for 10...so totally worth the "investment"

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I always use boxed cake mix - its just too easy! I make my own butter cream now that I feel I have found the perfect recipe:
-2 sticks of butter, whipped for a few minutes on high
-Add 1 Cup of powdered sugar, beat at slow speed until incorporated
-Add 2 more cups of powdered sugar and 2 T milk (I use whole)...once combined I whip on a high speed for a few minutes
-As needed add up to one more cup of sugar and 1 more T of milk to get the consistency right (I usually only need 1/2C more P Sugar)
-Add 1T vanilla if desired...make sure you use clear if you want white white frosting!
The frosting is to die for and is lovely to pipe with!
