I will start:
My one year old has ring worm. Then out of nowhere her body broke out in a rash covering 75% of her body. It's tiny red bumps that don't bother her or affect her so ped thinks it's some kind of introviris.
Our dog went into surgery to get 6 lumps removed. The final bill was double what we were quoted.
She tore her stitches out in her biggest incision while we were at work yesterday. She had a 2" gaping hole on her hip. DH turned around and took her to the vet and she got four staples put in.
This morning in the 20 minutes she was left unattended, she somehow got all four staples out.
Back to the vet today for more staples. And now she has a Hannibal Lector muzzle on along with a light sedative for when we're at work.
And oh, one of the lumps (the big one on her hip) came back positive for cancer. The second time we've found a cancerous lump.
And of course the usual busy stressful work and absolutely no alone couple time.
It's only going to get better, right?

That sounds truly awful! Argh your poor dog too!
In the past few months we have had so much sickness in our family - and we never get sick! DH got pneumonia, dog got gastro and then I had just found out I was pregnant...but then discovered it was a missed MC! Fast forward a few weeks, recovering from d&e, gearing up to TTC again then LO & DH both catch bloody salmonella from a bday party that they went to (& I didn't)!
And we are without any family in our city, and feeling very much like we are on our own little Island! Sucks!!!
I'm glad I can vent here but feel like I need to be careful in case all this information gives away my identity

@Nutella: so sorry about your MC.
How did you get salmonella at a party????

My LO caught a raging case of HFM that's going around town and he's covered in bumps and his ears itch. And we sat on the couch all night and watched cartoons because he was too miserable to sleep. And DH is leaving for a 3 day work trip tomorrow and I'm quarantined in the house. Ack.
I'm sorry about your dog. We had a lump removed from our Lab a few months ago, but it was benign.

@regberadaisy: thanks
Well, the doctor reckons that was how it got picked up. They both ate food there and immediately got sick...but it's hard to pinpoint it! The doc originally just said it was a form of viral gastro, but when LO was still unwell days later I sent away his poo sample & then it came back positive for salmonella!
Still a bit mysterious though!

@Tanjowen: good luck with house lockdown. Maybe get some binge watching shows of your own?!

@regberadaisy: poor LO & doggie. I hope things turn around for you soon.
@Nutella: Sorry about your miscarriage. Ugh, salmonella.
We found rats in our garage this week. Not a huge deal but it has my anxiety at an 11. I didn't sleep for two nights thinking of all the toys, gear and hand me down we have out there. And the thought that they may be in the house made me lose it. I didn't even know I was afraid of rodents so maybe this is a postpartum thing? I've been so tense all my muscles & jaw hurt. I think we've got a handle on the situation now thankfully. I hope I can keep my anxiety in check.

@Nutella: I'm binge watching Scandal right now! Managed to dose the poor kid with some Benadryl and he's passed out. I should probably go to sleep
And sounds like you've had enough sickness and rough times of your own. And salmonella is no joke!

My mom was supposed to be moving here and is instead moving far away. We don't have a lot of help here and i just want to cry. We've had 1 date night since our second kid was born it sucks. I desperately need a night away.
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
@Tanjowen: oh no! I'm so sorry! The good news is once the bumps show up they are on the way to getting better and shouldn't be miserable and cranky.
@jetsa: that's so hard. we do have family here but not the kind that offers to babysit.
DD2 is 1 and we've been on two date nights, one of which was our 5 year anniversary. So I definitely hear you. I'm ready to start paying a daycare teacher for out sanity. We so need alone couple time. I would like to eat dinner without the baby screaming or my preschooler asking me for milk every 5 seconds!
@Corduroy: omgosh!!!! That would stress me out too!!!!!

It really does make it better to commiserate like this!
I have the worst shoulder kink. It literally looks like I am shrugging my right shoulder but I can't put it down. Nothing will help but time. I got a massage and went to doc. My heavy baby is not making resting it easy!

And I want to respond to all posts here but I currently bouncing previously mentioned heavy baby to sleep on the damn ball.

@Tanjowen: OMG I'm also binging on Scandal right now as well! I only started yesterday - but just onto Season 2! I love it - and it's classy enough to leave out too much gore but it's still a bit thrilling!
@regberadaisy: oh man, definitely try and pay someone so you guys can get out on a kid-free adult excursion. I know it's not always possible, but even one night away can do wonders for the spirit. We did this when we visited my folks...did a drop & run. Just for a night, but it made it easier to cope with the madness when you've had some wine and time out.

@junebugsmama: feel your shoulder pain! I had to visit a physio for a month or so when LO was born, due to BFing and it putting pressure on already wonky shoulder. Have you tried physio or deep tissue massage?

Can you believe we came home Friday to my dog removing ALL her stitches AND staples in her hip incision? She had a 4" gaping hole. She was in a Hannibal lector muzzle and under a light sedative. Sigh. Now she will have the muzzle on 24/7 unless it's feeding time. BIL has offered to watch her this following week while we're at work. Friday he can't so she will have her cone + muzzle + be on Xanax (vet prescribed).
And baby definitely has some kind of virus because she's pooped 3x and it smells rancid and she's got a horrible diaper rash. We're trying to deep clean the house from top to bottom and she's just been clingy and crying all day.
F these last few months. Shit just does not stop piling up.
persimmon / 1045 posts
@regberadaisy: so sorry! Glad your BIL can watch your dog though. Can you maybe outsource the deep clean at all - or is that dreaming? I know I can only do one room at a time on the weekend, and that's when nobody is sick! Good luck!
PS: hope LO gets better too

@regberadaisy: You are really having a shitty week. :(@junebugsmama: Ugh, that sucks!@jetsa: That is really sad.@Nutella: Get well soon family!@Tanjowen: Gah! I hope your weekend is manageable.
I trained for a half marathon (today), and found out I'm pregnant 2 weeks ago. I decided to run it anyway because I trained so much, and I just decided to give up on my time. I figured it would be fine. With my morning sickness I couldn't eat before, and after the race I took a nap and still feel that early morning feeling. Dinner is lately my only/best meal of the day and I'm cranky and grumpy.
(I know this isn't much on the scale of everyone else's stuff, but I wanted to vent, too).

@regberadaisy: Dang, that dog is determined. My Lab had 2 knee surgeries, and ripped his stitches out the first one. The second one we tied him to the coffee table with his leash, but that only worked because it was over the holidays and we were able to be home. Hope the Xanax works!
@pastemoo: Thanks! We are surviving. We are both bored and restless at this point. Daniel Tiger is on a lot of replay in this house. We FaceTimed DH at bedtime and LO kept kissing the screen over and over - he was so excited to see another face, haha.

@Corduroy: we had a mice scare earlier in the year...horrible! Definitely keep things sealed and in heavy duty boxes. I also discovered I have a mild phobia! I literary was falling alseep in bed and just as I was about to switch light off next to bed I saw a mouse RIGHT by the bed scurrying along the wall! Spent all night (like three hours) pressuring DH to try to trap it but it squeezed out through the floor somehow...& DH had a job interview the next day! And then kept on seeing them! They were coming in at night through gaps in kitchen cabinetry so despite getting exterminators in, they were still coming in. Only once we plugged up the gaps did they stop. I spent many anxious days fretting though...especially after I saw droppings in the nursery! Thanking heavens we have had no sightings since March.
@pastemoo: morning sickness is no joke!! Isn't it so bad that when you're feeling the shittiest, that's when you have to be keeping things on the downlow?! Congrats on the pregnancy and the half marathon too!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: @Nutella: @Mrs. Tiger: @reverie: thanks ladies.
The universe is definitely pissed off at us. I forgot to mention we came home Friday to a dead baby rabbit on our driveway. Like just keeled over and died. Who comes home to that???
nectarine / 2821 posts
@regberadaisy: ah! poor baby rabbit that would get into my head. Dogs are so stubborn. I hope yours heals soon enough and needs no more cones and sedation!
@pastemoo: that sounds exhausting! Pretty awesome you still made it through the half marathon though. Congrats on that!
@Nutella: I tried a deep tissue massage but it seemed honestly just like a normal massage so I don't know how deep it was. I also did whole body and probably should have had her focus on the shoulder. It felt great, it seemed so much more comfortable, until I stood up : ( I decided to go to the doc and they just told me to try stretches, hopefully it will slowly improve, and then if not will refer me to PT. Not sure what i was hoping for!

Can I please resurrect this thread to have a little moan?
I need to preface this by saying that I love, love, love my inlaws. They are such generous people, not least with their time, and they help us so much.
So.... this morning, I was supposed to be at a meeting off-site. But I checked my emails super early and it was cancelled. I failed to mention this to my husband when he offered to take E to daycare this morning (which he almost never does!) and, instead, booked a secret morning off work to catch up on sleep. Amazing.
Only.... at 9.30am, my inlaws turned up unannounced. They had decided to be super helpful and take our old mattress to the tip for us and, of course, didn't expect me to be in. They saw my car, fortunately, and knocked the door, waking me up and allowing me to scrabble around for some clothes. And then I felt really embarrassed and guilty that I wasn't at work and I looked such a mess..... and, of course DH will find out now that I let him be late for work to take E to daycare when I had a morning off......
I know they were being really lovely and helpful but.... I just can't catch a break here! I'm so flipping tired!!! Can the world just let me sleep please??
persimmon / 1045 posts
@Cherrybee: omg that sounds so annoying! And even though they were totally coming from a helpful place, it still required you to find clothes/say words/not be asleep! I'm sure your DH will understand you needed a sleep in though...
papaya / 10570 posts
@Nutella: Hmm.... I suspect he will want to see that I've at least done some cleaning; I know I'd be put out if he had the morning off and spent it entirely lounging about, such that I had to do loads of housework after a full day at work. I'd better get started.
