For those mumma's who did placenta encapsulation - did you find they worked? Did you have positive results? Great milk supply? No PPD?
Would love to hear anyone's stories. I'm due next week and am definitely having it done.

It did. I had/have a fantastic milk supply, I never had any postpartum hair loss, and I could feel my energy levels come back up on the days I took the capsules.
I didn't have PPD although I did/do have PTSD from a traumatic birth, but that's not a hormonal thing so I couldn't expect it to help with that.

Like @Arden, I did the dehydration myself. I chose the raw method. It helped with postpartum mood swings, seemed to help milk supply, and I would do it again and wholeheartledly recommend it!

@Mrs. Twine: Anyway you could send me resources or a link on how to do it on your own? I don't have access to a doula and I'm considering placenta encapsulation.

@Danizaur: I sure could! Do you have access to a dehydrator, or could you purchase one? And are you interested in having capsules, or do you not care? I'll get some info over to you tonight.

@Mrs. Twine: I have access to one! Hmm. I'm not sure about capsules or not. I've not looked into other options. Thanks!!

Just wanted to update for anyone who is interested... my experience was fantastic. Tons of milk, my mood and energy was amazing - I totally attribute this to the placenta pills, but who knows. Either way I'll be doing it again for the next baby

I poo-pooed it, but I am going to try it next time... I feel like it can't hurt. This time I had a tough recovery and low milk supply and I wished I had just given it a shot.

Glad to hear it worked for you, @Mrs Squirreld! Like you, I attribute my easy pp transition at least partially to taking a mix of raw and encapsulated placenta.
I hadn't been considering it at all because I'm not usually one to take supplements. But my doula offered the service as an inexpensive add-on, and I sort of wanted to do it to freak out my family... and because I thought it couldn't hurt.
I've only had the one baby, so it's impossible for me to make a comparison, but I produced tons of milk and had almost no baby blues at all. I did have pp hair loss around 5 months (a month or two after running out of pills) and plenty of sweating in the first month. I don't know if it matters, but I haven't tended to be prone to depression in the past.
Anyhow, to those mamas considering it... Give it a try! It's not a huge gamble, cost-wise, and it may help a lot!

@Mrs squirreld: just saw this thread. that's awesome! i really want to do it and we surprisingly have a doula in town that does it! we have a super small town so I didn't think it would be available for us!

So great to read these stories! I'm really excited & hopeful about this when we have our baby. As long as you have a good care provider (that knows how to prepare them, and how to ensure you're taking them properly (too soon, or too many can cause the opposite reaction), then I think it's wonderful.

Has anyone done this for baby #2 but not baby #1 (or vice versa) and noticed a huge difference? My recovery was pretty good with #1 so I wonder if it would be worth it?

@Mrs. Twine: Hey could you send me some info as well pretty please? I want to encapsulate my own.
