No. Every time I think about it I picture the scene in Game of Thrones where Daenerys eats the horse heart...

@wrkbrk: Agreed, the pill form doesn't gross me out at all. There's not hard evidence to prove that it has any benefits, but the placebo effect *is* real, and with my history of depression, I figure there's no harm in trying it.

No, and I had no interest in seeing it, either.

Nope. No interest + they sent it off for testing about why I went 6 weeks early.

@cakelady omg gag....I never thought about it but yeah....I know the scene you are talking about!!

My doula dehydrated my placenta and ground it up into pills. I had a super easy postpartum experience and I attribute it towards the placenta pills. Perhaps it acted as a placebo effect, but I would ABSOLUTELY do it again.

If eating your placenta grosses you out, then you should keep the placenta and use it as fertilizer. We used the placenta water (left over from the dehydration process) in our garden on our roses. Holy cow! You would not believe the blooms and growth!

No, but I briefly considered it. I did a bit more research and decided that it just wasn't for me.

ETA: and I definitely would have done the pills. Anything else I think would gross me out.
Has anyone seen Odd Mom Out on Bravo yet? Too funny, there's a scene about it in one episode.

I took my placenta and donated it to my anatomy lab for first year medical students. The hospital bagged it in a Biohazard bag. My friend ended up having to keep it in her fridge since I delivered on the weekend!

I would say, if you are going to keep your placenta, have a plan for someone to take it that day. There usually is no good place too keep it at the hospital until your discharge.

@blackbird: That's the greatest picture ever in the history of the internet, and also how I feel about the matter. A+

No - I donated it to stem cell research, but even if I hadn't done that I wouldn't have eaten it. They did show me it, and I could have done without seeing it tbh!

I did. Pill form. I had really great results (mood wise), but was advised to stop taking them once we realized I had extremely low supply. The LC said some women make more milk with them, some make less, and she wanted to take that out of the equation.

I really did love the energy I got from them ... I have several friends who have had the same positive experience.
