Has anyone ever purchased? Looking for a shoe for DS that's not a snow boot, but holds up in ice/snow.

Yes; we have a pair that LO *loves*. I wouldn't wear the ones we have (or any of the ones I've seen in person) in ice or snow - that's not the climate they were designed for and they are not that thick/warm. Not sure about water repellent/resistant either.
They are extremely good quality though; I can tell you that! LO wears them often and they look great still!

@yoursilverlining: Interesting! It seems like several pairs were waterproof--I like to try before I buy so I'm not sure if I'll buy some online or not. They appear to be great shoes!

@matador84: If they were waterproof I might try them in snow if the period worn in snow would be short....but honestly, probably not. But I guess it would really depend on the pair too. With the ones that LO has, they are definitely not thick enough to keep feet warm playing outside in snow.
Do you have a Nordstrom nearby? That's where I've seen them - even if they didn't have the exact pair you are interested in, you could get a better feeling for the shoes in person there.

I'm no help on the issue of snow and ice, but my son has two pairs and they're excellent. He's 6 and puts shoes through the ringer. These have withstood the typically destructive effect he has on footwear.

We love our plae shoes! We have the Thande boot that is awesome for winter with a thick sock and for Spring water puddles! We also had the sandals for summer last year and they held up SO well! They are hard to spend that money on a shoe your kid will grow out of it but they are worth the money!

We have the water proof boots for ds1 who will be two in Feb. So far they have been great for this NYC winter which hasn't been so cold. They aren't insulated but keep his feet dry which is great.

If you have a Nordstrom rack nearby check there. I just saw a few pairs at mine and at least one was on clearance.
