Having my first play date this weekend! We are meeting up with two other sets of twins from our 'expecting multiples' class we all took. It should be fun!
What are some play date etiquette?
Do I offer to bring something like a normal get together? I'm not expecting to eat but I don't know. We'll probably eat before. Oh, we are meeting at 2pm.

Following! I have no idea but one of the mom's at preschool has brought up the idea of having DD come home with her twins whenever they get picked-up early so we may have to figure it out soon!

Hmmm my one friend and I are close and don't usually being anything. Who ever is hosting provides snacks if needed.
Another group just started doing lunch. So we meet around 10 and everyone brings something (usually main dish provided by host) and the kids eat before we go home for nap.
Maybe just bring fruit or muffins? Or pick up coffee on the way?

I will offer to bring something, but the person usually declines. If I bring something, I'll pick up something healthy, like a fruit tray. We take turns hosting so it all evens out anyway. Have fun!

I assume you are meeting at someone's house? I would bring a small snack to share like pastries/muffins, pretzels or something like trail mix.

It took me a while to learn this but bring kid and adult friendly snack food! For some reason I am always starving at play dates and I feel funny asking people for food if it wasn't offered already. Also you don't need to clean up toys etc. if your kids don't really make a big mess, but if they are trashing the place then definitely pick up. Don't overstay your welcome - one of Lo's best friends comes over for play dates often and they have a blast every time, but his mom is always running late, usually by an hour, and then she won't leave when we need to be putting him down for bed.

I always bring a little snack if we're going to someone's house and they usually bring something if they're coming to ours. Bagels, muffins, something easy.

@LBee: right! When we have a playdate with DD's BFF me and the mom eat cheese, crackers, fruit and wine - its awesome!

@Mamaof2: I am part of a huge monthly play date of my son's grade in his school district and we all bring wine. It makes the toddler tantrums a little more bearable.

I was so clueless.. The first time I went to a playdate I brought nothing and I went to someone's house too! I'd def either bring something for the adults, or snacks that can be given to the kids.

I would offer. But since your babies are so young there probably isn't much to bring.

I usually text as I'm leaving and see if anyone needs a coffee or bagel from a shop with a drive thru. I always bring an overabundance of snacks, water, and milk for my own kids because for some reason they pretend they are starving and act like I never feed them when we go to someone else's house. I try to leave their toys and books at home (or in the car), because taking their own toys to someone else's house can cause fighting over the toys (and I will undoubtedly leave it at the friend's house when I leave). With twins, I try to hit the road the second one starts to get tired or grouchy (except when they were little and I'd nurse them to sleep at the play date), because if it hits tantrum level, it somehow becomes contagious and all the kids start melting down into a huge screaming fit. Then it's much harder to get my two kids out the door and into the car on my own.

Most of my play dates are with good friends so I'm comfortable rummaging through their fridge 
but yes on a snack or just a granola bar in your purse. Also- help clean up! Even if it's for 5 minutes.

I usually bring something I've baked but that's my jam rather than just for etiquette reasons

In my mom's group, the hostess provides all snacks - adult & kid friendly. For other playdates, it's a toss up whether the hostess accepts or declines when I offer to bring something but I always at least offer.
You can make attempts at cleaning up but as a hostess I feel really anxious when people start putting things away in the wrong place 
@twodoghouse: I love when someone offers to bring Starbucks! I hosted a playdate recently and was so hoping someone would do that because I didn't have time to go out for some while getting my house ready!
