I would go with the easier one!

I vote the 1st one - my DH doesn't like "fancy" stuff (he prefers charcoal)

I would go with a Weber gas grill. We don't grill much, but have at least 4 or 5 friends we have gone from a Char broil to Weber and say it's so much better.

@BabyBoecksMom: Long lasting! We got a hand me down from ILs...and we've used it w no issues for over five years, they had it for a while before that too!

My husband has the infrared one and loves it.

@BabyBoecksMom: According to them and lots of reviews I've read, yes, it's well worth the money - last longer and much better built. All my friends started with cheaper grills and upgraded Weber cause they needed replacement after just a few years. They've had them for as long as the cheaper grills now and still going strong! It sounds like it costs less than replacing cheap grills every few years in the long run too.

If you go with a charcoal grill you add a flavor to your food that is just not added by a gas grill but it is also not as quick or easy to start. We have a weber and a big green egg and love both but if you are used to a gas grill and think that's what your husband would prefer Id stick with that.

Otherwise charcoal is 2nd best because of the char-grilled flavor.

Another vote for Weber but a charcoal Kettle. Never had a Charcoal gas but can't speak to it.

Not sold on infrared. We bought (deceased) BIL a really nice infrared grill and when he passed we got it. It hasn't hold up.

We have the Tru-infared- DH likes it ok. I wish I had just spent the extra and got him the Webber that had such greats reviews! While I like the infared- and think it cooks well- Webbers are just that much better and last significantly longer!

I'm pretty sure the Char-Broil 3 Burner Tru-Infrared grill is the one we have (my parents got it for us as a housewarming gift). We use it all the time and DH loves it! And we've had it for 3 years now with zero issues.

I also agree that if you can, go with a Weber. That being said, our very good friends have an infrared and hate it so we've always stayed away.

Another thing, we just sized down when we got the new grill because it took a lot of gas and time to heat up the big grill when it was just us cooking on a weeknight. Its not like we host major BBQs that often and need tons of space.

I'd go with simple! Sometimes that's all guys want. I bought my husband a $300 Michael Kors watch for Christmas last year, and then he never wore it. I got him a $70 watch that tells INACCURATE temperature, and INACCURATE elevation, and he wears it ALL the time because he thinks it's cool how it tells temperature and elevation.
