Every. Damn. Time.
Clearly this is a habit, but I have no bloody clue how to break him of it! His cries escalate after 10 minutes of waiting, when I pick him up it takes 10 minutes to quiet him down, and if I leave him in the bed and soothe from the side he gets madder.
I guess I just have to ride it out.

How old? Is he putting himself to sleep by himself at night?
We had this problem before we finally broke down and "sleep trained." Now he gets up 1-2 time a night to eat..... which is much better!

@coastmama: he is five months. I used to put him down awake and he could put himself to sleep, but I think our sleep regression got tied up with us traveling, and he is all out of sorts. It's just amazing how predictably he wakes up!

@aprk: for a long time, LO would wake up exactly 30 minutes after he fell asleep. no matter what time he fell asleep. it was awful! I just stayed consistent; we did pick up/put down sleep training and eventually he just.. didn't. No quick fix but also no tears. Baby sleep sucks. Hang in there!!

R woke up again tonight after 3 hours. 30 mins of crying and I caved and nursing her. This sucks.......

Have you tried any sleep training? At that age we tried to let him cry 15 mins. I also found if we responded the first time he would wake up again. Whereas if we did not respond to the first cry he would sleep a long stretch. Sucks I'm sorry! Travel is worse than teething I swear!

@winniebee: I let him go 10 minutes tonight and he sort of quieted a little around minute 6, but then escalated again. Did not seem like he would stop any time soon. I'm bit sure how much longer I could go. He was all snotty when I picked him up. Took him a while to calm down

@aprk: when did you travel? My rule is give it a week after illness or travel to sort out on heir own, then boot camp starts!

@winniebee: 10 days ago. But that's also when we tried the daddy sleep bootcamp to get him away from nursing EVERY time he woke up. That was going ok but my husband started to put him down fully asleep. and then he went out of town ...

@aprk: it's all about your comfort level! If he knows you will come rescue him after 10 mins though...at this age he will cry for 10 mins! Smart buggers.

@ALV91711: he naps 45 minutes at a time. 2 or 3x per day. Longer if I can catch him in the car and drive around.
