Last week we had a discussion on food restrictions for people receiving SNAP benefits. Here's a tragic story of the working poor. A father and his seven children died of carbon monoxide poisoning. Normally, I would read a story like this and think "well you should have paid your utility bills," but now I am starting to see how unsettling and dangerous poverty can be. People face choices, with severe consequences, that I can not even imagine.
