We haven't offered popcorn yet at 19 months. I'm nervous it's a choking hazard but know many other moms that offer it already at this age.

I think it was around 16 months? I think it depends on the LO! M has always been a really good chewer and knows her own limits. She loves loves air pop!

Maybe around 14-15 months? We've never had a choking incident with popcorn and LO loves it!

At 18 months we were at a dinner party and the older kids were snacking on popcorn. They gave some to DD even though I had told them not too. We couldnt keep her hands out of the bowl. She handled it just fine!

D and my BIL gave him some at like 16 months? One piece (air-popped) at a time, and supervised. He loves it!

popcorn terrifies me (as do whole grapes, & hot dogs & carrots slices as coins). the molars needed to grind popcorn/raw carrots etc aren't there a year and a half. i've always waited until >3, but not my kids, so it's not my place to take risks with other people's kids. the article below might be helpful in making your decision

15 months. I was surprised he ate it well, but he did. But by that age, he had about 14 teeth with 2 more popping out.

I'm still waiting on it at 17 months old. LO stuffs his mouth full, so I'm not taking that chance until he chews better.

I've torn pieces up and given them to her, but I've never let her have a whole piece. It scares me so much.

Just very recently since she JUST got molars. Before that we wouls only give her the popped part (no kernel) in small pieces.

We've been giving popcorn to him since 16 months or so. He's had first molars since 14 months, so he was able to eat most anything, and now at 21 months he has all his teeth, so popcorn is still on the list. It's one of the only things he really loves to eat.

Very early but my pediatrician says not before 5 years old. The only child she has seen pass away aspirated on popcorn. We call it his bucket of patience at Disney.
