Once upon a time there was a placenta (sorry the title begged for a story).

What are the options for the placenta after birth?

These are what I know of, and I am curious what else is out that--and what it is for.

1. Medical waste
2. Placenta encapsulation (pills to help with post partum hormone changes)
3. other methods of eating the placenta
4. Placenta prints (art made by the placenta)
5. Placenta tincture (not sure what it is for)
6. Placenta salve (for treatment of peri-partum wounds and/or nipple cracks)
7. cord blood banking or donation
8. Send to pathology
9. Plant it in your yard/under tree/with garden.

What else is there? What did you do with the placenta? What do you think about it retrospect?
