So...

I work for a huge company ($18B Revenue) - in finance. I have a very good job and a solid resume. I have been with this company for 4.5 years (the longest I have worked anywhere).

There have been some changes lately in what I'll call tone at the top. Some executives making some decisions that I cant wrap my head around. A lot of us have been waiting for the "other shoe to drop" to see where things are really headed.

Recently some actions are really causing me to feel like they care about the bottom line above anything else (which is ok) but they are doing it in spite of the people who make the bottom line possible. I am fine with cuts/action plans/cost savings. I get it. We need to build shareholder wealth. But at some point it is too much.

The part of the company I work for is having a "record breaking year". Major acquisition ($1B in size) plus significant growth - all with zero head count growth. Meaning we are all doing more. Word is going around today (not just rumor mill...my boss telling me what she is hearing from reputable sources so I am not blindsided) that we may not get bonuses this year - because "numbers arent good". Mind you this is internal numbers...our executives will be going to investors and showing record breaking growth and margins.

I'm just really struggling with the disconnect between what you say to the outside world and how you treat employees internally. Our bonus is based on internal only goals/numbers. On top of that we have had many "stretch" goals layered on this year. I get it - if we dont hit it maybe we dont get the full amount but how can you justify no bonuses when the company is making TONS of money.

Not to mention - my bonus is a large part of my comp package (14.5% of salary)...so zero is a large swing.

This almost feels like the last straw that has me contemplating looking elsewhere....
