Getting ready to start for DD.... no clue how many undies I should buy?
Do I buy regular undies or these thicker/more expensive kind?

I had 4 thicker undies for daycare (so they didn’t have puddles every where, and I think they put them on over the regular ones so that it still felt yucky to be wet) and I think 12 pairs of regular for home.

I never used any kind of thicker training pants. I got two packs which was I think ten pair and it wasn’t enough so I ended up getting one more pack.

We only use the thicker training pants style so there is less of a puddle to clean up, especially if we are in public (we also try to use thicker, cotton shorts).
I don't know how many we've bought total but I'm going to estimate 2 per day of the week, so 14, plus 4 backups (2 cars, 2 diaper bags) soooo 16 minimum? We only wash kid clothes once a week.

For the first few days wearing underpants, I’d recommend 6 per day (multiply/divide as needed based on your laundry access/frequency). We did the thicker training pants; usually only need to clean the kid up rather than kid and floor/furniture.

So many. All the undies. We have probably 20? They're cheap and we tend to pick up new packs regularly because it keeps her motivated and therefore more cooperative.

Take the number you think you need and double it. We just got the standard thin kind. Pants got wet as well but no puddles or anything.

14. Paw patrol and Thomas. I could get by with leas, but I'm horrible at folding laundry

I only did regular undies. Aim for like 100, sone you are going to want to burn and it’s nice to have the option to toss

@MsMini:
I think we had about 15 of the regular thin kind- characters to keep her motivated. But she was mostly home with me during potty training so I was the only one who had to deal with messes- I guess I would have considered the thicker ones if she was in daycare or had a regular babysitter? But you may be pleasantly surprised- I had surprisingly few huge accidents to deal with. (We did no undies at all the first day).

We are a week into potty training and haven’t used any undies yet. We did 3 days of naked and now are doing commando. I read the Oh Crap book and that’s what she recommends. DS is doing awesome, he’s had like 3 accidents the whole time and we have been camping for the last 4 days too! We will probably start undies next week. I bought 14 pairs

@peaches1038: !!! Didn’t realize you were training!! We are starting July 4th - same method! I read the book a couple of weeks ago. So glad to hear H is doing awesome! I’m straight up terrified

@meadow: I feel like those thick ones are closer to pull ups. Didn’t even know that was a thing. We are going to skip those!
