I am a little panicked about what to get for my LOs preschool teachers! There are two women who teach--and they are both older--I would guess late 50s or so. And I am at a total loss. I don't want to do anything that is 'knick knack-y' and I feel like I can't think of anything at ALL to get them. Ideas would be VERY welcome!

I'm an elementary school teacher. My favorite presents to receive are gift cards, books, and classroom supplies. One of my favorite gifts was when 2 siblings gave me potted herbs (sister 1 gave mint, sister 2 gave basil). My least favorite presents to receive are knick knacks, baked goods, bath products, and coffee mugs. So many bath products and coffee mugs! That being said, teachers really appreciate the thought and effort put into any gift and especially a heartfelt card.

We gave a set of hand soap and travel sized hand sanitizer from bath and body works for teacher appreciation week this year, and many of the teachers commented that they loved the gift. I felt a little like I had copped out by going and buying something small and easy like that, but they thought it was a useful and welcome gift!
@mrs. 64: I just noticed your comment on bath products! I had no idea about that.. I hope our teachers don't feel that way.. Maybe they were just being nice!

I also teach, and love gift cards, myself.
However, I think a nice, airy scarf, a sterling silver apple pendant, or a unique vase (I used this tutorial for Mother's Day: http://www.thesweetestoccasion.com/2012/07/diy-glitter-vases), with a sweet, summer bouquet would all be quite appreciated.

@T-Mom: Not at all. Hand soap and sanitizer are much needed products at school! I'm referring to strongly scented body wash, body lotion, bubble bath, etc. that are more of a personal preference. I've also been given bath products from a student that contained the word "sensual" in the title. Um no.

i can give a don't: victoria's secret gift cards.... weirdest teacher gift i ever received and a few parents had gone in on it which made it even weirder! haha. i'm sure a gift card to a bookstore or coffee shop would work, or a gift certificate for a mani/pedi, or a nice plant.

Gift cards--half thinking LCBO (this is the name of Ontario liquor stores!), but not sure if it would be weird. Or Starbucks. Or a book shop? Reasonable?

@woodentulip: I would probably avoid the liquor shop since not everyone drinks.. but I have done Starbucks and book store (barnes and noble) cards before.

@woodentulip: I would probably avoid the liquor store, in case you accidentally offend her. Personally, I favor gift cards to book stores, coffee shops, health food markets, and nail salons (love pedicures).
