It's my first time. No one seems to be starting group gift. Small school, my daughter goes 3 hours/day 5 days/week.
What is the appropriate amount to spend? Am I supposed to get a physical gift, a gift card, or just give cash?
My only thought so far is to write a letter about the positive changes I have noticed in DD1 (starting to read, loves going to school, etc). Maybe with a gift card? Coffee or something...

I received a wide variety of gifts when I was a preschool teacher. By far the best were handwritten letters, so I think you are right on the nose there. (One of my favorites was when the mom just wrote exactly what her son said in typical Preschool-ease.) Then a small token gift, like a gift card or edible would be nice, too.

I think gift card and note is perfect! If it’s just from us I aim for $20-25 gifts (we did more when it was full time care) but I think anything will be appreciated.

Our preschool teachers have wishlists for their classroom so I bought an item off of that and I’m giving them each a small gift card

Our school shares a Favorite Things list for each teacher with ideas. I usually pick up a treat like their preferred candy and a $20 gift card.

@Jess1483: I'm sure this isn't what you meant but marijuana is legal in Canada and the idea of getting preschool teachers weed gummies is making me laugh and laugh.
I think you could do an actual gift or (probably preferred) a gift card. For some reason cash seems awkward to me.

I hardly know the woman since pandemic protocols mean a wave hello and goodbye most days so I think I'll write a letter from me, one from DD, and get her a gift card. Maybe to somewhere more unique than Starbucks or Amazon...

I always get gift cards for my kids teachers because I know they can get what they actually want. But I also include a handwritten note about how grateful I am for them.
