For a while, I would jokingly ask Charlie: "Lick or no lick?" He would say, "No lick! No lick, Daddy!!" And of course, I would promptly lick him as he dissolved in laughter! Well in retrospect, I was training him to:
* Lick other people and,
* Ignore it when people said they didn't want to be licked.
This all backfired on me when Charlie started licking Bee late at night when she was putting him down (we've been trading off putting Charlie down, ever since he stopped going down easily). She told him to stop licking her, but he just kept at it. Doh!
All I have to say is: thank goodness he licked her, instead of one of his classmates or his daycare providers! Licking isn't the sort of thing you want your child to do to his peers and teachers!! I stopped doing it, and he followed suit shortly after.
What was I thinking?! Definitely not my best hour. Still, it was pretty funny. Lick or no lick??? Who wants to be licked! Well I enjoyed it at least.
Did you ever have fun with your LO that ended up backfiring?
