We were kind of in the same boat! We bought the monitor with one camera about two years ago. Then added a 2nd camera when our 2nd son was born about a year ago. One of the cameras died on us suddenly (the newer one) so I called Amazon (where we bought it). They suggested we contact Motorola first to see what could be done. Even though we were just outside of the 1 year warranty time period, they still were willing to honor the warranty and send us a new one. They were very accommodating so I would call them and see what they would be willing to do for you!

I'm going to buy a wifi camera and use an old smartphone as the "monitor" for my in-laws house. Spending 50 bucks on a Foscam (or something similar) beats spending 200 bucks.

Same thing happened to ours last summer. It was less than two years old but outside the warranty. Since the boys were older at that point and we didn't need to keep a monitor on all the time, we replaced it with a Foscam camera that we can use our iPhones and iPad to monitor. Works great!

@QBbride: We have shown our babysitter/parents how to use the ipad to access the camera. No problems with it!

We've had one for 2.5 years and haven't had an issue with it, aside from the poor battery life. We usually just keep it plugged in unless I need to carry it around with me.

We've had ours for 2 years and other than battery life have had no issue. We bought a replacement battery that's been working fine. That said, we need to buy another camera for LO2 and I haven't decided if we'll do another Motorola or something like the foscam that could maybe be used as a security camera later.

@BabyPenguinXO: I definitely hear you on the cautions there. It was something that we considered before buying our Foscam. We have ours set up with closed ports, so in addition to having a unique surname and password to access the camera, you also HAVE to be connected to our home wifi network to connect to the camera.
