I had a credit card stolen online that I strongly suspect was hacked through Apple's iTunes Store. It was the only place I ever used that card. By the time I got my statement, there was also $400 in charges to my card. Took forever to get resolved (I hate MasterCard to this day for that experience) and now I'm suspect of iTunes.

@birdofafeather: AmEx is fantastic about fraud detection and prevention. One of the many reasons I now only use AmEx.

I had to get a new account maybe six months ago. My debit card was fished at a gas station and used to buy prescription meds and crap at a walmart. It's a hassle but didnt take long to rectify. I'll check my accounts today, though!

This is why I use credit cards instead of debit cards. I still pay the balance at the end of the month, so the effect on my finances is the same, but it's much easier to dispute fraud.

I was looking over my card balance a few days ago and found a mysterious charge from a magazine subscription company. Fortunately it was easy enough to dispute, but it is infuriating.

We have had this issue before too. Once it was when we were sent new cards they were intercepted on the way so of course we just thought they were a few days late (if we even thought of it) and by the time we realized something was up there were charges on the account. We had an issue with a different card using Expedia's phone customer service (only place we had used the card in forever) and then we were getting charged for "muscle milk" from some skeevy internet site. Thankfully both were easily fixable.

I hope they get it straightened out quickly-- and that the idiot who did it had it shipped to their house...

Been hearing a ton of fraud reports now that it's holiday shopping season! DH had to report someone buying $200 in toys with his debit card at TRU. This was just last week. Citibank resolved it quickly though.

How awful, a lot seems to be from Apple iTunes...that's scary.

So sorry you have to deal with this! My husband checks online and balances our checkbook every day (seriously), and I'm SO grateful he does. I'm terrible with that sort of thing.
