I fly baby wearing all the time and have never had a problem (using ergo and Moby wrap), however, today I wore my ring sling and they made me take out my SLEEPING 3 month old baby (!!!). They said it was because I set off the alarm with the metal on the rings. So just a heads up, don't wear a ring sling flying if you want to keep your baby asleep

we had the same problem. I used the beco for that very reason the next time. Thankfully, the TSA was super great and didn't make me take him out cause that would have been a PIAETA: also- when we were on the plane- the flight attendant said we weren't allowed to keep him in the maya during take off and landing? I have no idea why... And at 4 and 8 months it was the only way he'd sleep!!

I wore E in a ring sling this last time I flew. I set off the alarm but they used the wand and patted me down. They were careful not to wake him tho. Sorry they weren't compassionate.

I had that problem the last time I flew with dd by myself. She was 14 months and did not want to get back in the along once I took her out. Running after a toddler while trying to collect my carry one and put on my shoes was no fun.
@Mrs. Pen: I had a flight attendant explain that to me one time that if there were an emergency and you became incapacitated it would be difficult to extract a baby in a carrier quickly

@oliviaoblivia: that's an interesting explanation! I always thought it was because if there is a sudden motion by the pilot, the weight of your body against your child will/can crush them to death...the whole safer as a projectile theory.

Yes, it's a pain. Though I usually asked if we could just get a pat down if she was asleep in the RS. Most airports we went through were happy to oblige, providing security wasn't crazy busy.

@luckypenny: I can't believe they made you take out your LO! When I flew with mine and he was asleep, I told them to do a pat down instead and they didn't' have a problem with it. I'm also really curious which airline you flew on...I fly Delta and they have never mentioned anything about having him in a wrap during any point of the flight, but each place is different I imagine.

They said thy would have to have me take her out, do a pat down and pat my baby down!
