Very long story short, my three-month-old has been all over the map with naps. So much unlike my first born. My firstborn had blackout drapes/curtains from the very beginning and he always napped really well (after some mild training). I never really made a direct correlation between the two. I knew they helped but I didn’t think that was such a big reason. My three-month-old has been driving me crazy and I never actually hung up blackout drapes for him for various reasons. Well I started noticing that his naps were actually great on dark rainy days. And then we visited a friend for a day and put him in a windowless dark room and he napped amazingly. So when we got home I decided to let him nap in my 3yos room with the blackout drapes.
He napped for 2.5 hours 3x that day! And practically every day since (going on a week).

If your babe isn’t napping great and you don’t have blackouts (not just blinds or regular curtains) TRY IT. I covered his room windows in grarbage bags to test it out and he just woke up from a 3 hour nap.

I felt compelled to share this information. I never thought it would make such a huge difference for him, but apparently it does! He’s also sleeping a little later in the morning too (7/7:30 vs 6/6:30).
