This is going to sound awful considering how long I have been pumping, but how do you clean the inside of your breast pump flanges, specifically the area where the milk drains down towards the valve and membrane? There are nooks and crannies in there that I can't even get with a nipple brush, and I've started to wonder if I've been doing it wrong all this time.

I use a straw brush!

I have been wondering the same thing. I use my nipple brush but it doesn't get it all the way clean.

I soak them in a giant bowl of scalding hot soapy water and try to swish the water around in the parts to get in all the nooks and crannies.

@SLR: This is what I have been doing for the most part too, but I was on a work trip for a week where I didn't have great access to places to clean my parts and I started to worry that they need some scrubbing now.

I scrub the best I can, then I run scalding water over them and sanitize in the steam bags

I used the little brushes for ages, now I just soak and they seem very clean.

I have found success with an eyebrow brush

I use the teeny brush that comes with Dr Browns bottles. I imagine its similar to a straw brush.

@grizz: same! Those Dr. Brown brushes seem to work really well!
