I just was getting ready to pump at work and discovered I left the flange at home! Yikes. I last nursed DS at 7:30am (it's 10:50am now) and won't be able to nurse him again until 4:45pm. Should I go home and get the flange? I REALLY don't want to because the round trip is one hour and I'm a teacher and that will cause problems. Will it hurt my supply if I go 9 hours without nursing/pumping? Please advise!

@Katrocap: Did you leave one flange or 2 flanges at home?
Could you pump one side at a time?
Could you purchase an extra set of flanges at a store closer to work than your house?

I've done this before! I went almost 10 hrs without pumping because I forgot my stupid parts. No, it will not hurt your supply but you will be really, really, really uncomfortable. I leaked like crazy but luckily I was wearing black. Is there a CVS/Target/BRU nearby you can go to for spare parts or a manual pump?

Do you have the other flange? Pump one side at a time. Pump something don't go all day without but if you do less today just make up tomorrow.

Hand expression is your friend! There are some videos online as to how best to do that. No one else pumps around you? You can borrow flanges because unlike some other pump parts they can be disinfected.

Eek! Honestly I don't think you could manage that long without getting really engorged & probably leaking! I don't think one day of little/no stimulation would kill a supply, but it could cause a dip in the coming days & could cause other issues with the engorgement (clogged ducts, etc).
Maybe there is a Target or grocery store near by that has breastfeeding supplies? I know our HEB does in the baby sections (bags, extra pump parts, etc)...

You're probably going to be extremely uncomfortable if you go that long without nursing/pumping and you might leak.

@Katrocap: This happened to me a few times. Did you leave both your flanges at home or you don't have any?
Can you hand express? If you have a bowl you can hand express into it and then save whatever you express in bottles.
If that's not an option, is there a large store close to your school? You could buy a manual pump.
Or you could just not pump. It may or may not affect your supply. I know that when I would try to do that I would end up with a clogged duct and my supply would be off for days.

this happened to me last week. i did what @brownie: suggested with pumping one side at a time (i did shorter amounts on each side because i couldn't do a full 15 minutes on each side, i did about 10 on each side). or, like others have mentioned, a quick run to a drugstore for replacement parts is an option!

One day won't hurt your supply. I'd either hand express or run to a CVS to get a hand pump.

I agree that hand expressing is your best bet. It will make you feel better and hopefully not hurt your supply.

This happened to me before and it didn't effect my supply at all (I also EP so I know down to the oz how much I make a day).
I was extremely uncomfortable and I leaked a little but all was ok!...my boobs also looked awesome by the time I got to my pump
ETA: I would pump after you get nurse LO to tell your body you 'used' all that stored milk
