I had a tough time getting a letdown for the pump after long stretches where I was exclusively nursing. Can you pump one side while baby feeds the other? It doesn't solve the pump problem...but it works around it really well.

@MsBAM: so weird. I dunno about the pumping but neither of my kids would take the ready to feed formula either, and when they did it didn't seem to quite agree with them like the powder so if the pumping doesn't happen then that may help, as well as experimenting with a different bottle type.

Oh and I don't have first hand experience on this but I remember seeing someone on here post about those suction kind of bottles that can collect milk from one breast while baby nurses on the other? I don't remember what they're called, or if that's an option, but I know it was on amazon.

What time were you trying to pump? I would get the most milk at 5 am. Enough for 2 bottles...

Maybe a bad membrane? If it’s got even a tiny hole it would prevent enough suction for pumping to effective...

Maybe try a hand pump? Smell an item of your baby? Visualize baby to try to encourage a letdown?

I would try to have express or the manual pump. It can be hard to get a let down with the pump if your body isn't used to it. I have to get in the right mindset when I pump, it's hard to explain but makes a huge difference.

when I'm pumping (at work or home) I listen to a video of my DD - for whatever reason that really helps my let down.
I also recently figured out that I get more milk pumped when I drink water during pumping... go figure.

Once last thing, I use to get the most pumped between 2-5am. It sucked getting up at 3am, but that way I was always ahead in milk and my boobs were just so ready to give it up!! Maybe that would be worth it for a few days to get a small stash going.
