Ms. X, a friend of a friend, did a wonderful thing as was a surrogate for some friends of hers. After the baby was born, she decided to pump and give the milk to either the baby or a milk bank. Also very kind.
So, my friend goes to visit Ms. X about 18 months after the birth and while they're getting in the car to go to dinner, Ms. X straps on her pump with a nursing cover and drives to dinner. My friend tells her that they can go back inside, but Ms. X says it's totally not necessary. This is her routine. She pumps every three hours around the clock. She tells my friend she does this because she can then eat anything. She "knows she needs to stop" but wants to try to make it through bathing suit season.
Cue jaw drop.
