Does anyone here use printed patterns to carve pumpkins? Neither DH nor I have any artistic skills whatsoever so we ususally follow a pattern like theses http://www.pumpkinpile.com/patterns_jacks.php
Do you freehand or follow a pattern? What are you favorite templates?

I freehand, but my pumpkins are normally just a simple jack o lantern of some sort. My cousin follows a pattern and does awesome designs. She did sully with boo (from monster's inc) on his shoulder this year. It was so intricate and awesome looking!

I usually freehand too, never thought to look for a pattern. My pumpkins are usually totally lame so maybe I should give a pattern a try next time.

Freehand. I'm actually an artist but my pumpkin carving skills could use some work. I'm glad to have lo to do the pumpkins and take the pressure off of me now. This year we wont be carving because she's too little, we'll be finger painting
