Did anyone start purées at 5 months? I know 6 is recommended but I feel like my daughter is ready. She's 5 months, 1 week.

We did a few days before 5 months
She was solo ready chomping when we ate..... very interested!
She loved it! Fist try was a little skeptical but after day 2 so far she loves it all!
She just turned 6 months and honestly I would have felt bad knowing how much she likes it if we would have waited!
Play around see if she is ready..
We did rice cereal first with a little BM
Also my Pedi is onboard with starting at 5 months!

We waited until 6 months per the pedi's recommendation. But I really don't think 3 weeks is going to make a huge difference one way or the other. You could always do cereals now (we were recommended to do those first, not necessarily for nutrition, but to check for allergies in each one) and then start actual purees at 6 months. We actually did the cereal thing at 6 months and then didn't really start purees til closer to 7, but I'm pretty sure we were on the late end of things, and my daughter was a-ok with just her bottles up until then.

My baby is 5 m, almost 6. I just started solids this week, because he is 24 weeks and I figured might as well. I waited the longest out of everyone in my moms group, it seems like actually waiting till 6 m is the exception not the rule! He was definitely meeting all the milestones, he's basically sitting up with very minimal support, he eyes and grabs for my food, made chewing motions. And he is not really a fan at all of purees. The first day I did a homemade sweet potato fry/wedge because I wanted to start of on baby led weaning but it freaked me out too much. I did so much research too! For now I am gonna do purees and see how it goes. He actually preferred playing with the wedge, purees he is meh about so far. His favorite thing was the rice cereal bowl and trying to drink it while holding it himself! Crazy boy.

We started at 4 months with DS1 and about 4 1/2 months with DS2. They were ready and loved it. My pediatrician was fine with it.

We are starting tomorrow at 24 weeks. Ped. suggested to start around 5 months because she was initially ready however we ended up having to wait until her reflux was under control again.

I felt pretty strongly about following the AAP recommendations to wait until 6 mo - they made those recommendations for a reason! So we waited until then. Actually a few days later because I was lazy, ha! But LO loves food and would have liked to have started earlier.

We did green beans around 4 and a half months. Although she broke our into a bad diaper rash so we waited about two weeks before trying anything else.

At her 4 month appt, My pediatrician told me we could start whenever she seemed ready. We started one week before 6 months, then backed off because I wasn't ready (she was!). Skipped cereal and went straight to soft veggies and fruit (did mostly baby led weaning with some purees). But she wasn't really chomping at the bit to start before that, I know other babies who were.

We did at 5 months because he was still hungry at daycare and I was maxed out on pumped milk! I started sending one purée a day at exactly 5 months. He loved them right away. We skipped cereal and puréed veggies and fruits. We started more BLW around 7 months.

We started at 5 months with prunes because she was constipated and wouldn't drink juice. She loved them and is going strong at 7.5 months. My ped tried to get us to start at 4 months.

We started purees at 5 months. He had been eating oatmeal cereal for about 2 weeks before we started giving him purees. His pediatrician said we could start, and he was really interested in food, so it was a hit!

DD seemed ready but when we tried apple sauce she spit it right out. I'm going to wait a little longer, but I'd say give it a try. Take a video, they make the cutest faces!

My LO is the same age and I think we are going to start soon. We started my oldest at 5.5 months and she did great. My LO had a fit at dinner tonight (sitting on my lap) because my tortellini went into my mouth and bypassed hers. It was a little funny.

We started about a week before 6 months as he was getting absolutely furious when we ate in front of him!

She's your baby, you know best. I personally wanted to wait until 6 mo but DD would literally SCREAM if we didn't share before 4 mo. I decided if she was "ready" she should do it herself and we went the strict Baby Led Weaning route : only finger food, and she had to feed herself (picking up and bringing it to her mouth on her own)
I'm happy with my decision cause I really think it's easy to fill kids up on purées and end up displacing their milk intake.
