For those of you who give your over 12 month old a bottle.. what do you put in the bottle?
Formula?
Cow's milk?
Breastmilk?
Other?

Not there yet but I intend on giving her cow's milk (if she doesn't have an allergy...Appointment in 2 weeks!)...Or soy milk. I don't think I'll give her formula...

We started DD on cow's milk in her bottle at 11 months and then completely got rid of her bottle at 12 months. It was kinda transitional for us.

LO just turned one. I am in the process of mixing whole milk with formula and planning on slowly changing the ratio until we are on whole milk. Our ped today said that eventually we should get off the bottle, so I'm going to push LO's straw cup and sippy cup more now.

@Cchoi4: Do you use the whole milk to create the formula (assuming you're using powdered)? Or, do you make the formula with water and THEN mix it with whole milk?

I make the formula with water then mix in the whole milk. I tried giving LO some whole milk in a straw cup but he took one sip and spit it out.
Pre-transition, I give LO a 5 oz bottle of formula (made with water). Now that i am transitioning, I give LO a 4 oz bottle of formula with 1 oz of whole milk mixed in. He took that fine today. In the next couple of days, I'll experiment with up-ing the ratio of whole milk. We'll do 50-50 for a while and then I'll keep up-ing until we are completely on whole milk.

@chopsuey119: LO gets sippy cups mostly because I don't want to have to wean the bottle too, but DH will give her a bottle at night. We use all pumped breast milk right now but soon will introduce organic whole milk.

@Andrea: No bottle for M. She drinks everything out of her Zoli cup + my boob! Just wondering what 12+ months are drinking. Was thinking about giving her some formula since she's not a fan of the whole milk.

@chopsuey119: oh, and i don't think she really needs to drink whole milk. she can get calories and calcium from other sources.

We gave whole milk at 12 months. We mixed it with some breastmilk at first though. But after a few days we just switched to whole milk and he was fine with it.

@chopsuey119: have you tried mixing it with breastmilk? you can ease her into whole milk that way.

@Andrea: I haven't pumped in forever.. I suppose I can pump and have her drink from her sippy!

@chopsuey119: yeah, let's say she drinks 6 oz of milk. i would put in 5 oz breastmilk/1 oz whole milk and let her get used to that. and then slowly decrease the amount of breastmilk and increase the amount of whole milk until one day it is all whole milk. by then, she will probably be used to the whole milk taste.

We do the zoli cup too, with pumped breastmilk for now (still nursing up to 4x day when I am home). When the freezer supply is gone I'll introduce whole cow's milk, but LO eats plenty of yogurt/cheese/cottage cheese, so I don't worry about him getting that much milk in him.

At one year, we switched to cow's milk, we still use a bottle but are in the process of switching over to a straw sippy.
I didn't wan to make too many changes at one time, but that works well for some babies, you know?

We switched from bottle to sippy starting around 11 months. She got formula/BM mixture in both them once she was 12 months we did mainly sippies of F/BM mix and a few small amounts of cow's milk then transitioned to all cow's milk. She nursed 2x/day until 14mo but I stopped pumping at 12mo.
