Not sure... depends on if you think she is hungry or needs to eat. I do that too because it's easy.

I haven't night weaned DS yet because he was always small for his age. I didn't feel comfortable. But he will be 6 months next week and I will start him on 3 consistent solid meals a day, and I think that will hopefully eliminate the need for a night feeding.

Also my midwife DID tell me that once they reach 14 lbs you can night wean them.

These past couple weeks as LO has been having a sleep regression, I decided to try and pacify her without picking her up and giving her the boob... to no avail. At this point on her good nights when she's only up once, I think she still actually needs the feed.

I would wait 5-10 minutes to see if they go back to sleep. Then I would try the pacifier. For a couple of weeks my lo would take the pacifier after waking up after 6-7 hours then fall asleep for another 2-3 hours. He was going 9-10 hours without a feed at 3-3.5 months but not necessarily sleeping that long.

Eta: when he woke up the 2nd time I would nurse him an he would go back to sleep for a total of 12-13 hours in his crib.

E is 12 weeks old now and usually only eats once during the night (except for recently due to a growth spurt). He wakes up several times throughout then night, but I go in and give him his pacifier and put my hand on his chest and he usually goes right back to sleep. If I put his pacifier in and he's fussing again within a half hour I assume he's hungry and feed him.
We started this because I was going in multiple times a night to feed him, but he'd only eat for a few minutes and then be asleep. I didn't think he was really waking up because he was hungry and just needed soothing.
