Has/did anyone here actually get pregnant with twins after cracking an egg with 2 yolks???
I'm actually freaking out here and hoping it's just pure urban legend. I really don't want another set of twins.

A friend of mine has two sets of twins. Two sets of twins does sound very scary. Last time I followed you on the IVF thread. Did you get pregnant without intervention this time? If so, that's wonderful! Hope you and the twins are doing well!
ETA: I can't comment on the double yolk thing but my friend had twin boys the first time and twin girls the second time. Twins do run in her family.

Oh totally a myth. I had an egg with two yolks, a positive test a week later, and only one baby. It's more common in the XL type eggs

I don't know about the double yolk, but I do have friends that had two sets of fraternal twins....

I don't really believe in things like this. Good old science got me my twins! Are you pregnant? How amazing! I would be freaking out if I were you too. When will you have an ultrasound?

God no, I'm not pregnant. At least I hope so. My DH and I are kinda done with growing our family. We are actively preventing.
Although now I'm so freaked out I think it's time to discuss a vasectomy.

@Apex: Phew! Then I definitely wouldn't be worried about the egg yolks. Your post really freaked me out! I still don't have my period back so I'm thinking I should keep some pregnancy tests around or something. I can't even imagine another with my two being 9 months!

@twodoghouse: Yep, you totally get me. My mother thinks it's funny and keeps congratulating me.

@bluestriped bee: I've been following your journey and I know how much you want twins too. You find out today right? I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

@Apex: Yup, I find out today. Thank you! Leialou, also, has her u/s today. She's 10 days ahead of me, though. It's too early for me to hear an heart beat but she should.

@Apex: I cracked a double egg like a week after I got a positive test. My MIL then cracked one a week after I did. I was a little panicked, haha. Only 1 baby!

I got a positive test and 2 days later I cracked a double yolk and prayed for it not to be a sign...and a few weeks later found out I was having twins. 24 weeks along now . And just 2 night ago I cracked a double yolk. It was funny to me not that I 100% believed the double yolk thing it just coincidentally happened

@Apex: So my ultrasound at 5w4d shows just twins and I asked my RE if one of them could split. She said that it is possible and that one of her clients had it split. So even at this point, I'm still not in the clear. I was trying to find a paper to see if anyone researched when the yolk could split after IVF. I would be curious to see when it has happened.

@Apex: Oh, duh! I just finally got your question. You asked if anyone cracked a double yolk IRL and then got pregnant with twins... because of it. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... Yeah, I voted wrong. I voted I knew a friend who got pregnant with two sets of twins. The IRL double yolk crack went over my head! LOL!
I was thinking... wait, how does anyone know when their yolk is being split internally? Weird cramp, maybe??? Am I missing out on some sign? Am I suppose to know what this feels like? LOL!!!
