Sorry for the long and rambling title/post ...
I had surgery on Wednesday afternoon to remove an ectopic pregnancy... I'm wondering when I should expect to start bleeding... Also when would I mark this down as a miscarriage in an app like fertility friend? The day I start bleeding, or the day the pregnancy was removed?

I would count the first day as surgery day, since your levels will decline rapidly from that point.
With my ectopic I had already been spotting/bleeding on and off for a month when I had surgery, but it really picked up about three days after the operation. It lasted about four days and was like a normal period.

I had been spotting brown for about a week, but since the surgery nothing - until last night I saw a few spots of red, which I hadn't seen until that point. I got really excited (weird) but nothing since...

@knittylady: Did you just stop your progesterone on Wednesday? If so, that may have something to do with the delay.

I know this isn't the same, but with a D&E I bled a bit afterwards, it completely stopped for a few days, then I bled more about a week later once my levels had dropped more. I think it's common for bleeding to start and stop and involve lots of spotting as HCG drops. Sending lots of and good wishes for the recovery.

I think I started bleeding on the 3rd day after surgery. I marked CD1/date of miscarriage as the surgery day.

@knittylady: thinking of you and sorry for your loss . I would mark the day of surgery as CD1. Depending on how long it takes for HCG to drop, O may be delayed. I think I O'd within a week of HCG hitting 0.
